Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

+1 for Cowbell, even though I'm still waiting on mine.

Currently have the Ritchey Evomax Comp bars which has the same flare but slightly shorter drop/reach and a much wider tops section. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a compact drop bend like the Cowbell.

How comfortable are the hoods? I was interested in those but didn't want to take the chance.

As comfortable as any of my other handlebars including some cowbells on a different bike.

I'm running a set of On One Midge bars...I love them. I don't know if I can go back to a standard drop bar on any bike I build/buy in the future.

Can't see the flare...it's not dramatic but definitely more than a standard drop bar...but you can see the shorter drops which I really like....

Well, you can count out the Satori X-Race Aero bars as a wide-flare carbon bar.
Measured them up and the flare at the drops is 8degrees.

Still, I do like the hand-fit in the drops and top.

Never had a carbon bar before, so they feel very light in the hand.

My Cowbells came this weekend, looking forward to getting them wrapped and put on. The flare seems much less in my hand but I've been on them and it was adequate for me I think.

i have a WTB DirtDrop on my commuter-come-gravel thing, it is set up so the top/hoods are horizontal. so they are most comfy riding on the hoods, i use the drops for high speeds, headwinds and on dirt, but default position is on the hoods.

i have a Dajia Far Bar on my drop bar mtn bike, which is a dirt drop clone. this one is setup with the bars rotated more downward so the drops are the primary position. the hoods are still in line with the tops, so sloping downward slightly. i can ride the hoods on the road, but default position is in the drops. they are great on the dirt.

i am still tweaking the mtn bike. but so far, it seems like you have to choose where you want to spend most of your time and accept that the other position is less comfy than it could be.

Dajia Far Bar Handlebar, Silver
normal drop bars feel weird to me, too narrow and confining, when i hop on the roadie machine.

The flares on the drops are also great for descents when you want a wider hand position, but want to stay low.

BTW - be cautious switching bikes, the standard drop-bars can feel twitchy after riding the Woodchippers.
