Centerlock to 6 bolt adapter
My bike is being worked on and the wheels need to be changed.
The bikeshop ran out of 6 bolt pattern but they have the centerlock hub.
They said they can use an adapter to use my current disk brake.
What are the pros and cons of using an 6 bolt adapter.
Thanks

Pros
Look up the cost of centerlock rotors instead of purchasing the adapter, you may just want to buy new rotors.
Edit: Play may have been unrelated to the adapter and more the issue with the brake pads. It was so minimal that it didn't bug me enough to troubleshoot.
- Able to use a 6 bolt rotor as well as centerlock
- Need to use an adapter to use a 6 bolt rotor
- Sometimes there is forward and backward play. Not noticeable when riding, but can be felt when holding the brake and rocking the bike.

I'm using such an adapter on the rear wheel of one of my bikes, and there's no downside whatsoever. The brake works just as well as it did with the old six-bolt disc hub, with no play at the rotor. If I didn't know the adapter was there I wouldn't be able to tell.

Downsides? ****, I wouldn't buy a wheelset/hub with 6-bolt at this point - CL all the way. You can adapt a 6-bolt rotor to a CL hub. You cannot adapt a CL rotor to a 6-bolt hub... and most of the really snazzy rotors are CL, these days.

I generally do not approve of adaptors like that for critical components. There are plenty of center lock rotors that shouldn't be a huge problem. You may need to get them from another shop or SO them but they are available. If I had to use an adaptor because I was desperate sure but generally no wouldn't do it.
