50+ Jerseys?

I recall a mention in a thread a while back that the opportunity to order the 50+ jerseys usually comes up in the fall. Is there some secret handshake, song, code etc. that we need to become enlightened about before being shown the secret door to ordering the jerseys, or was that a one time production that will never be seen again?

Dalameda I asked that question a few months ago I think. Maybe if I just wait until next year then I can opt for a 60+ jersey instead, but there's not one But I will be 60 next year, how time flies!

I'd like to get a 50+ if they are offered for sale.

Curtis, a member here, has graciously put together an order for 50+ jerseys and other cycling apparel every year or two. There is not a stock of jerseys for sale, they are ordered prepaid when a group order is put together.

I have a new women's medium if anyone is interested (wife tried it on and decided she'd prefer a large so it is sitting in its bag in my closet).

Cccorlew said that he would put another order together after the first of the year, last week, in a post about 2013 goals. He had a really busy schedule this fall at university with his teaching and some other things he was involved in. It will be worth the wait for the next order, I wear my SS jersey a lot and will be adding another jersey, bib tights and a jacket or vest this time. He will post a sign up procedure and then a spreadsheet with who ordered what so we can keep track of what we are getting.

He will probably see this thread and give us some straight scoop on his plans.

Bill

Yep, thanks for the update! Got the SS jersey last year, looking to further kit up for 2013. My 50+ and my Chatoe Rogue jerseys are my favorites.

Yikes. I can see I'd better get going. There appears to be a bit of pent-up demand.
So, I haven't forgotten, I've just been way way busy.

I wish all the people who talk about what a cake walk teaching is (no, not on this forum, just in general) could see my wife spending evenings and weekends grading middle school English papers.

My job keeps having more acronyms that all require more paperwork and forms. It's as if someone decided that measuring students more often would miraculously make them learn more.

Sorry for the rant, but this is 50's forum, so it's OK, right?

It's near 10 pm. The college newspaper is near finished, so it's almost time to head home. At least I'm on my bike, and the rain has let up.

And I would like one too!

But, not at the expense of making you crazy, or sacrificing your students, or missing some bike rides -- because I am sure that that is a LOT of Time & work to organize.

But please keep it on your list...

Yay! I hit the big five-oh in August and one of the things which made it easier was the thought of getting one of those 50+ jersies. Thanks in advance Curtis.

OK, I'll bite. Where do I get the details about this 50+ jersey? Any lics to pics? Price? Manufacturer/quality? Details (e.g., short sleeve or long, full zipper, etc.)?

Thanks,

Yes, yes, and yes. As to the etc, you'll have to wait till ccorlew posts the order information. Shorts, jackets, etc. Good stuff.

The quality of all of the kit made by Champ-sys.com, is first rate, very well made. The jerseys run a bit tighter than some kit, most here like the fuller Club Cut jerseys, two jersey cuts available most years, a sport fit and the club fit I mentioned, more generously cut, my preference. There are usually shorts, bib shorts, tights, possibly bib tights, vest, possibly a jacket and LS and SS jerseys. I probably left out something, Curtis can fill us in later. I am not taking Curtis' honors here, just trying to explain things while he is really busy with end of term duties.

There are several threads from each sale period in the archives of old posts, a search will find these for you if you want to read through them for better information. Curtis will post an announcement with the details about the kit and payment, PayPal usually. He then posts a running spread sheet with the orders listed so you can see them.

When he reaches the cut off he will let us know that he has sent in the order to the manufacturer he got the design registered with (his own design that you see in my signature line, below.) When they come in he sorts and ships them as quickly as he can. All of this is his own work because he is a really great person and a dedicated bicyclist. No profits are made by Curtis, he does this for all of us.

The kit is well worth the wait. I am planning on ordering another SS club cut and long sleeve jerseys, bib shorts, tights and a vest or jacket this time. My and my wife's SS, club cuts are comfortable and holding up very well, they are from 2008. The black collar band has the motto "Dulcius ex Asperis" in white lettering. On back it says "Experience Counts" beneath the 50+ emblem. the www.bike forums.net is on the sides if the torso portion. They have the standard three back pockets for bicycling jerseys. I hope this helps everyone with their questions and allows Curtis to get through this really hectic and busy term. Ride Lots and Ride safe.

Here is an picture you can see better.

Thanks for looking into this, all. I'm very interested myself.

I'm interested in the SS race fit--anyone order one last round that I can glean fit info from? I am 6-1, 173#, wear a 43 suit, a XL t-shirt and I have skinny arms (not a buff kind of guy, lol). I wear a XL in Pearl Izumi semi-form (their club cut), a XXL in Pearl's Pro-Fit and a XXL in Castelli (which is a euro/race fit). I don't mind loose sleeves but I hate when the hem/cuff is loose on my biceps. Any size/fit tips? Thanks!

I totally agree with you about teaching. The 25+ years my wife was a middle and high school teacher she worked her a## off! She had multiple grades which entailed 4 or 5 different lesson plans. EVERY night she would be sitting at the dining room table working late into the night. It got to the point that I started resenting her job because there was no time left for her family! Thank goodness that it's in our past and were retired.

Since I dropped 35 lbs since last May, my old shorts have gotten a bit baggy, so I might be interested in taking advantage of this buy too.

One question though - is it considered yucky to offer used bib shorts for sale? I have three pairs of perfectly good quality XL shorts that have seen one season & will probably be replaced before the snow melts...

Steve,
It is pretty much bad form to buy the used bike shorts for sale, putting them up for sale I wouldn't know about. Many a post about some one buying them on eBay has been a laugh riot on the 41 forum. Even if you wore underware I doubt many would look at them. Some pictures of the chamois in a used pair with skid marks in them was in one poor guy's post complaining about them when he received them after his winning eBay bid.
