Is this for real? A $50,000 Colnago

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am in no way promoting this item. I almost pooped when I seen it. Are they for real?

It is easily the finest bike frame ever made, and will be forever. Each dot is very special in ways that can't be explained.

At least the other $50,000 Colnago is a complete bike, so it's only listed at 5 times it's worth. https://cgi.ebay.com/Colnago-Forever-...item2eb1610093
I guess the sellers hope that some drunk millionaire accidentally hits the 'buy' button.

For a $50K item, i'd at least expect to see a full blown detailed ad with hi def pics and historical explanation and refs. not a $1.99 ebay posting.

That is seriously ugly. I don't care if it's gold plated and comes with a pro rider...it is a hideous bike.

I don't get it? It's a prototype for a track bike but it has a derailleur hanger?

The road frames produced in the Futura style were done in prototyping and I think a few in error. They are considerably more rare than the 33 of each design done on the track frames. I want to say there's less than a handful of them in the road frame, but I'm not sure how accurate that would be.

Nope, nor does a speculative art market saying it is valuable. Value is in the beholder. Rare just helps bump the price up, which personally having held these bikes, is what I feel the seller is doing. Even factoring in appreciation, the rarity of it being prototype/error, it still shouldn't be approaching 50K not by a long shot.

Somebody should grab a cheap a$$ frame, paint it like that and try to sell it for 1000 bucks just to probe a point that people can buy any cr@p.
