It is totally getting insane here in Utah. I so want to get out on all the beautiful steel I picked up this winter but the snows won't quit. Woke up this morning to at least another foot of snow and it's coming down really hard still. The 5 foot fence around the old dog kennel is pretty much all under snow now. It's 9-10 ft. deep along my front sidewalk and the driveway. This is totally bonkers! And the VA just scheduled me for a knee replacement on the 10th of next month. So I may not get out on any bike until like May, crazy!! I just hope it doesn't flood while I'm recovering, that would totally suck.

Here (northern Michigan) it's just drizzling now, and I can see ground, but you have my complete sympathy. The local roads aren't in any condition I'd want to take nice bikes out in.

Over on the BF Fat Bikes sub-forum some guy is probably posting from Utah "Lots of snow here, got out for a great ride!"

Here just outside of Washington DC, got a few flakes all winter, not even a "dusting". Not sure if my snowblower will even start anymore.

Knees aching bad yesterday from the Doc yanking on them. So it took me most of the day, on and off, to dig out. Snow got to heavy for the snowblower so I had to start shoveling, FUN!

Stayed in bed for 9 hours which never happens. I must have really gotten a good workout yesterday, LOL!

Today I have to clear out the spare bed room which has been converted to parts storage for the 30+ bikes. My son's going to need it when he stays with me after the surgery.

Supposed to be real warm today so I think something I'm actually going to get a small ride it. Main route is still all snow choked so can't take out something like the Team USA Raleigh. But I can get the AZOR dutch bike out and do some laps around the neighborhood.

you guys definitely got snow. I have to stop complaining about it here in Montana. You have so many nice bikes I would like to see you post a photo of them arranged in the order of your favorite on down sometime, probably hard to pick tho from some many nice ones.

I expected from the thread title this may be a melodramatic reaction to wanting to ride but there was a dusting of snow. But this is a legit cause to complain unless the only activity you want to do is sit inside and drink bourbon.

Yep, skiing is out which is a shame. I have one big resort facing my front door that's only about 7 miles away. Another smaller one about 2 miles away I can watch from my living room. Then there's another big one across the valley about 15 miles away.

Well, I just puttered around a couple of miles on the Azor, first ride of the year. Lots of deer and turkeys in all the various cleared driveways and such. It's got to be getting really tough on them. Felt good though to be sitting on a bike, even the old granny dutch bike.

I dug out my 3rd garage stall today so I could get the car out for the first time in months. I may find that easier to get in and out of than the Jeep after the surgery.

For perspective, the car in the driveway last Fall and then today.

We've been having a similar problem here, but with water. A couple of us organized a C&V ride for the first Saturday of every month, and that's been rained out for the last 4 months. Finally yesterday it was clear and sunny, and still there's so much water, both standing and streaming across the road, that I had to wash the bike I rode, and clean the grit off the chain.

I have a bike I've been lovingly working on this winter - I replaced the bar tape with sewn on leather wrap, like it originally came with, then I replaced the saddle with a new Concor in tan to match the bar wrap, then I replaced the 'cheap and cheerful' Michelin Dynamic Classics with a pair of Vittoria Corsa G2.0's that I got on sale, and I've been ITCHING to ride it! But I'm not gonna take it out till it's dry.

Sure, had one for years with fenders, studded tires etc. I used to ride daily year round. Then a low speed wreck that resulted in a separated AC Joint that's never been the same made me re-access my immortality.

That is a real tease to see some of the best snow and ski resorts in the US and know that its not in your best interests to enjoy. Same for mountain biking which I understand as I try to stay off the technical single tracks to avoid the falls which often happened to me.

Interesting. Here in NYC land, we've had the mildest winter I can possibly remember. I did not need to start my snow blower once and the avg temps have been really high.

I hope we all have a nice long mild Spring!

Here in Minneapolis we received 8 inches yesterday to claim 3rd spot for snowiest winter on record but still nothing like you have in Utah. Had a knee replacement 6 years ago and the best therapy was riding my bike. Skied Aspen areas in January and while at Buttermilk found out that Klaus Obermeyer is still skiing there at 103! At 84 I guess I should have a few more years left in me, but age 103? I doubt it.

Yep, I could ride out of the house on a mountain bike and spend all day on the trails. Unfortunately with the bed knees also comes a bad lower back from my Army days too. I finally had a couple of years with only mild issues so I decided to try MB'ing again. Bought a nice new one last winter. Then in the spring the back blew on two different occasions while I was doing nothing. In fact the send time I was walking across my living room floor carrying a plastic Garmin mount and it just went with no warning. I took that as a sign and passed the mountain bike on to a local teen at great loss.

Just spent about an hour out on the Azor just cruising around the little neighborhood. Cold and windy but this beast of a bike does serve a purpose. With the full fenders, chain guard, and "dress guard" not a drop of water got on me. Works so well I stopped trying to avoid all the wet spots and puddles on the road. Ankles exposed and didn't feel so much as a wet mist ever hit them. I just wish the main roads were clearer so I could get out on them. The area is forecasted for another heavy snow storm starting this afternoon and going through Tuesday evening. One to two more feet of snow, I hope the deep stuff misses up. Sun and temps in the 40's by midweek though so maybe spring is going to finally get here.

Out here in Cambodia, 98 degrees and 85% humidity, just cooking even early in the morning.
So I have been in working with my computer and occasionally wrenching on bikes.
