Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

bmc carbon fiber type

i was with some friends and then they start talking about the carbon fiber type.
when they asked me what type of cf my current bike have i replied "My old roadbike had a T700 carbon fiber's tecnology, this one i don't know"

For a big brand as BMC is a bit annoyng that they claim "Premium Quality" instead the type of carbon.

Did anyone know what the heck they use?

It doesn't matter. The type of fiber used is a balance between strength and durability. High modulus CF is very strong for its weight, but relatively brittle. Lower modulus is less pure, which makes it more flexible and tough. Which fibers are used where is a design choice - and no one uses all high modulus.

If a BMC frame is particularly light, they almost certainly used some high modulus CF in the frame.

Considering the misinformation out there about what kind of carbon fiber is used, it only confuses matters to tell consumers which modulus in how much. People will mistake modulus for quality and will punish a good frame maker for making sensible design choices because consumers misunderstand the engineering.

It's like complaining that a delicious stew is low quality because it wasn't made with all filet mignon. Filet is a really nice cut, but a terrible choice for slow cooking.
