Have a stupid 10 mile running race today I don’t want to do. It’s part of some dumb challenge that’s included with the half I did in April.

Time to pull the CoMotion down off the hook for some miles. Headed to Southern Missouri for a tandem rally next week and despite the tandem being in fine fettle, the team could still use a little in-sync practice.

It’s not a crisis until you start getting frost alerts. HTFU.

I dragged a couple of friends from Illinois up and over a mountain yesterday.
I very much enjoyed the question "We've got to be like halfway up by now, right?" 30 minutes into a 2 hour ascent

Of course I know there is usually some sadism going on. But in a good way. It's satisfying finishing a tough ride with friends, even the piddly thing I did yesterday. I'm glad they backed off in the last part but if they were to drop me I understand.

We went swimming in the OUTDOOR! SALINE! 25 METER! pool. Then AG kept swimming and I did a little left-leg lifting. May pay for it at my 10k tomorrow but still good to have a place to strengthen that damn left quad.

Cyclists are notorious liars. Everything from how many climbs are left to how hard they are, or how difficult the ride is. Maybe it's because we want it to be fun and we want everyone to enjoy it.

Everyone had an awesome time, though. We really lucked out with the weather, too. Forecast from the day before indicated rain starting at about 1PM. It didn't start until we were pulling out of the parking lot at around 4PM. Also 55 degrees in the woods is my favorite riding temperature.

The high today is supposed to be 61, with a 40% chance of showers. One hates to lend credence to Velo Vol's oft-repeated "year without summer" complaint, but really - there have been damn few "shirtsleeve" riding days this year. I shouldn't complain, though, since the longer the cool spring lasts, the lower the risk of a big, all-at-once melt of the snowpack. Once again, it's time to don the Zero Aqua long sleeve jersey. In May. Memorial Day weekend.
Rango was just outside doing a little leg lifting, but I don't think it makes him any stronger...

My cousin said one of their neighbors has a saltwater pool. I wonder how much work it is to transform an existing chlorine pool, and what ongoing maintenance is like.

And a year without summer my fanny - it’s 87* here already and we’re going to see a few days in the 90s this coming week.
