Campagnolo Grease Pot
Hi there,
It may sound a bit funny but I would need the dimensions (height, width) of the grease pot that came with the Campagnolo tool kit in the 1980s. Metric, if possible. Does someone have them?
Thank you so much in advance.
Cheers

Pics man, pics. If you have a pic with/in the tool kit, you should be able to ballpark it at least for now.
And we will know exactly what you are looking for.

Donīt you know what a Campagnolo tool kit is? Then you probably donīt know the dimensions of the grease pot that came with it.
The thing with the blue lid in the right lower corner.

have the tool kit, less the grease tub.
that was the small one, there were two larger ones.
boulderbicycle did have the Gipiemme petit tub for sale, very similar to the Campagnolo grease.
Brad of American Cyclery in SF had listed very recently a near complete used campag tool kit, Italian threading, $2,600.

Thanks.
I was asking because I am very near to a potentially fitting grease pot but very far from my tool kit. Measuring the gaping void in it is, therefore, not an option for me. I can only measure the pot.

I think I have a small tub somewhere around here but no idea where and no time at the moment to look for it.

Lid at the top 56mm
Base of the pot 52mm
Ht, 46mm
all maybe +/- a mm
I would say this is the same size as in the kit.

I have two of those grease pots, both empty. If I remember, tomorrow, I will measure them up for you. Be a good idea to send me a message tomorrow - I tend to forget things these days,

My old jar I picked up at the Campagnolo factory in Vicenza Italy in 1975. It was the only thing I could afford... Ha
The base diameter 52.8mm
The upper lip before the screw on lid is 53.6mm
The lid depth is 11.7mm
The lid diameter is 57.9mm
Note: I found it odd that the writing on the label said "Special Grease" in English. Then again in the bike shops around Vicenza the only grease I saw used came out of big smelly nasty old cans labeled "Grasso Marino"...

Wow, thanks to all for the many helpful answers. And the results even match!
Well, the grease pot I have available will not match with the hole in my tool kit. Sigh!
It is about time someone clever discovered the market potential of grease pot replicas...
P. S.: How much grease was in that little pot? 50 g?

In that little pot, really? The one in the tool kit which still lets you close the lid?
That Gipiemme grease pot from Boulder Bicycle looks similar and holds 100 grams.
I forgot how to calculate the volume of a cylinder but I have just weighed a 330 ml can of coke (which is about three times as high), and it comes out at 357 grams.

That is correct. I am not interested in the 40 y/o yellow grease, I just want the 40 y/o plastic pot which will crack like an eggshell when I touch it to fill it with fresh grease.
No, seriously, I just want to fill the hole in my tool kit with a grease pot.
I would suspect 100 grams is the right size.

The as-yet-unused tub in my toolkit weighs 102g, including the container. I suspect @repechage is referring to a different size tub.

At times I think I should never have sold the reduced tool kit I once had.
- much lighter
- no tools that I will never use
- no hole that I have to fill with a grease pot/tub
Ach!
