Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't have any tubeless bike tires, but when I worked in a tire shop, we had a strap that we would cinch along the center line of the tread, and it would force the beads out to the rim.

Saw this on Vintage Philly. Brought back memories. I worked in a cart just like that during the summer of '82. $25/day in cash at the end of each day. Usually all $1 bills. That was good money back then. Mom didn't even mind if I dropped a few dollars at the arcade after work. I believe Bil Keane was from Philly.

There was a little ridge that the rim could sit on, otherwise it would have been a major pain in the ass.

I always think of him as an Arizonan, but yep, he was born in Philly, got to AZ in '59.

I saw that too, but the explosive pyrotechnics seems more trick.

Most of the carts were owned by Greeks. Many of them would smuggle cash back to Greece in the summer and eventually retire back there. They would sell the “business” to another Greek who would come over and run it, or their kids would take over. My boss did the latter. In ‘91 I stopped at a cart for a pretzel. The guy working the cart said “You used to work for my dad.”

They could teach a masterclass in winning meaningless late-season games that do nothing but wreck their draft position.

So if I may brag on AG for a bit, for the techier-minded among you, this is what she's been working on for over a year:

The number of times I've heard the names Hera and Hercules during lockdown...

Greek. But I'm sure it's better impressive to those who understand it.

I can try, but if I need 1 hand to squirt the fuel and 1 hand to hold the lighter/match I won’t have a hand to hold my iPhone. And if I ask mrs datlas to help she won’t let me play with fire.
