Just got the e-mail. Gotta make a decision, it's about 1.5 gallons of gas round trip; last time just about the same $ as shipping items to me.

I went to the garage sale at the end of last winter, and that was great. While I was there, I picked up some 20% off items that were not heavily discounted. About a 3 hour round trip for me, but I would do it again.

Would love to purchase from their site more often, but their shipping prices drive me away each time and the current currency difference between CAD/US makes it more expensive. Lucky Americans.

Known. The Canadian -US shipping is ridiculous. I can ship to/from England for a fraction to Canada. Smuggling is cheaper.

Gift Cards on Sale!

I received an email this morning from Velo Orange saying that they are having a Black Friday sale on gift cards. So, you can by a gift card any time between now and midnight EST on Monday, and get 20% off. Effectively, this turns your future purchases into sale price purchases.

This seems like a great deal to me. I don' think that I need any VO parts right now, but I'm sure that I will in the future ...

Here is the text of the email:
We've historically avoided any Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales because of the stress it would put on our employees during the holiday season. But we still want to offer an option that gives you the ability to give a Velo Orange gift, and get a good deal while you're at it!

And we've determined the answer is - a gift card sale!

Starting now, and continuing on through the end of Monday November 29th (11:59pm ET), get Velo Orange e-gift cards at 20% off!

That's $5 off a $25 gift card, $20 off a $100 gift card, $100 off a $500 gift card - you get the idea!

Gift cards are a completely automated process for us, so no burden on our employees as we give everyone off Thursday and Friday, November 25th and 26th to spend time with their friends and families.

It allows you to give a gift without knowing the specific bike part your buddy needs, or push off your holiday shopping decision to whenever you want, while still getting 20% off. Or, treat yo' self to a good deal!

These 20% off gift cards effectively turn any future purchase into a sale. Apply the 20% off gift card value to any order, including future purchases for items that are not currently in stock. In addition to being an employee friendly alternative to Black Friday/Cyber Monday, it spreads out demand over our supply chain. Wow, it's a win-win!

See terms and conditions for more details. Gift cards are emailed immediately, please write down, print, or save the code! If giving it as a gift, either forward the email, the link to the code, save it as a pdf, or print it and give it in person! Any questions? Email or call us!

Note that we will be closed November 25th and 26th, so any physical orders placed after around 2pm November 24th will go out Monday November 29th.
When I tried, their website was failing under the load! But we have until Monday ;-)

I know someone who did that at Lowes when he planned to buy a riding mower in the spring. They only came in $20 denominations, so the look on the cashier's face was priceless when he handed her a whole deck of cards.

I hadn't heard of this place - is it a shop? One of my restaurants is near Glen Burnie (Maryland). Looks like shop is open by appointment only - worthy of a scheduled trip?

Intrigued by their rear track hubs. Looks like they have good spacer kits that come with them to adapt to 126mm or 130mm. Never heard of them though until recently.

I only give out $6,000 VO gift cards at Christmas. It's really too bad you're not on my list. Maybe next year.

I recently bought a caged bearing headset for a 1988 Schwinn Voyageur, looks good, works well, very happy with it.

It's also a pretty good way for them to generate some cash flow without having to ship any product right away. Something tells me I'll be buying myself a gift card....

I've used several V-O headsets. No complaints.
My only complaint is the previously complained about cracked crankset. Which, I really want to keep complaining about. And I seem to be complaining about .... again.....
