When I introduced myself I said I'd tell the story of why I started riding again after a 5 year layoff. Well I hade job in West Virginia working on bulldozers and stuff. Driving all over the state in a service truck that had a standard transmission and an underpowered engine. So naturally I to shift gears a lot. Well my left knee that I'd damaged by flipping over a Hodaka super rat climbing a hill started hurting pretty bad. My right shoulder got to hurting also what with all that shifting. I went to the Drs. in Farmington West Virginia. He was an Osteopath. They can crack bones like a chiropractor. He put my shoulder back in place. When he looked over my knee. He said to go get a cheap bicycle, ride it a mile a day and that knee trouble will go away. I left the Drs. and went to a Western Auto store and low and behold they had the first mountain bike I ever saw. It was a Murry Baha. $79.99 I think.10 speed. It went home with me. The first time I rode it the 2 miles out and the 2 miles back on the road I lived on I was wooped! But a week of that my knee problem went away. At least there is some benefit to bike riding. I got and stayed in better shape and have been riding ever since! Sold the Murry for what I paid for it and bought a Schwinn High Sierra in 1986. My oldest son still rides it!
Thanks for listening to my rambling

Western Auto... I haven't seen one of those since the late 80's. My second bike came from Western Auto in the late 60's. Their equivalent look-a-like to a English Racer with a 3 speed IGH.

Welcome to BF

We have a Western Auto store about 20 miles away. Was still a Fuji dealer up to a few years ago.
