This is shown with and without the extended handlebar nacelles. Truly reduces windchill. I should have put wool socks on this morning, but my toes were the only part of me that felt cold.
The tapered Tailbox is key to obtaining a speed advantage however. The other version with large panniers doesn’t have the speed this one does.
I believe the LED Lighting is very important, and I’ve recently converted to LiFePO4 batteries, for the lighting system. This bike has two new motorcycle headlights, marker lights, brake lights, a few LED strip lights, and other flashing lights. Also has a voltmeter and USB Charger in the dashboard.
Todays ride was highlighted by a cup-o-soup, that was prepared by adding hot water that I brought along in a thermos in the Tailbox. Snow flurries were falling, and hot soup was perfect .

Winter bike and which bike to ride...
I ride all winter here in western Colorado. For 'normal' patchy ice and snow on roads, a gravel bike / one with knobby tread works great. I've had good luck with Donnely Xplor MSO's for example. I ride a SOMA Triple Cross with a 40mm tire up front, and 35 in the rear with fenders, of course.
When it gets really nasty, I ride a Pivot Les Fat with either 4 inch x 26 inch tires, or 3 x 29'ers. The 3 x 29 tires are for backroad, long distance touring, but they work well on most surfaces. When the roads are bare and dry, any bike will do.

Model 317 has six times more cargo space
Model 318 is more aerodynamic
The fairings are playing a more important role now. The windchill is greatly reduced with a fairing. I would like to redo the #317 with an aerodynamic Tailbox like the #318, but then what bike would I use to pickup Poland Spring?
I’d have to get a cargo bike!

And here I thought I was the only one!
Nice to see other winter riders... most people think there's a screw loose when I mention riding no matter the weather... I just love riding, period. Once you're past that first chilly 100 yards or so, its like any other riding, but with fewer riders and usually less traffic. What a great group!

It conveniently warmed up to 0C on the day I needed to replace my chain and bottom bracket. All the snow melted off while I was working.
The plastic sleeves in Shimano MT800 bottom brackets are flimsy compared to the older discontinued models. I popped both out while reinstalling the axle, breaking a piece off one of them. Since they have a smaller exterior diameter you also have to use an included adapter to install them which is a little annoying.

My winter ride with "Miss Pinkie" the Felt DD70, earlier this week involved mostly above freezing weather and only a bit of snowy/icy mess to deal with. All the previous rain even cleaned up most of the road salt. A ride down to the north shore of Lake Erie and some of my favorite places. Sorry for the phone pics, forgot to pack my camera. Temperature was a not too bad +3C.

One of the great advantages in riding country roads hereabouts in winter is that they plow the shoulders of the roads and even though those shoulders are dirt they're frozen solid. Thus tires don't sink into the shoulder like the tires do in summer.

It was a cold day in central Florida! It was 45 when started riding at 10am. We usually start at 7:30 but it was 32 then so we delayed until 10.

I'm just bit north of you. We had 2-ish inches on Friday that set up and rode really nice Saturday AM. Most of the trails have less than that and don't really need the fat tires yet but we have another 2-3" coming tonight/tomorrow.
