Non matching chainrings..will they work?
Hi
I have campy chainrings 42 /53
The 53 has the AS 53. Which I just learned stands for Asymmetrical Shifting
The 42 does not.
They fit together fine
Will there be any issues shifting ?
Appreciate any and all help

Depends on what you mean by "issues."
Also depends on your shift levers. If they're downtube levers, then no, not at all. If they're early Ergo levers with the ratcheting semi-indexed front shifting, then at worst, you might have an occasional slow and possibly crunchy upshift from the 42 to the 53, if you're trying to to it under load and you don't remember to back off on your power stroke while shifting. If that's not a thing that you do very often, and most people don't, then I wouldn't sweat it.
For what it's worth, all of this is based on what looks to be an older crankset... looks like a Croce D'Aune to me. So we're talking an early 90s bike. If that's even close to correct, you'll be fine.

being vintage like for parts, it should shift ok. The newer cranks tend to fuss more with non-series/model matching designs. Tried a Force22 with a Chinesium smaller ring that contained more teeth than the original small ring & it just hated to shift.

Are you talking about the components in the photo?
No shift pins, no short teeth, etc.
Overall, it should shift, especially if using "friction shifting", but probably wont shift as smoothly as rings with the shift pins and gates, and synchronized ring design.
Soft pedal while shifting.

Thanks for all the responses.
I have a 42 AS on another crank set.
I'll just use that and break up the set.
I was kinda leaning that way

the mismatch won’t be an issue - the bigger problem will be the lack of pins/ramps on your big ring. Do yourself a favor and track down a more modern big ring
