My son has one. Owners are enthusiastic, and often wave to each other.

I have one. Great rack. They have spare parts for them too. I painted mine to match the Beast.

I am a 1Up owner and love the rack. Unlike having to choose a 2- or 4-bike rack, the 1Up lets you decide if you want the rack to be for 1, 2, 3 or 4 bikes. You buy the main rack and as many add-on racks that you may need. The add-on racks are simple and fact to add on to or remove from the main rack.

I purchased mine because it was the best option for having just one bike, I can always upgrade to 2 or 3 bikes.

I've had no issues. Very easy to put on and take off

I recently ordered one. My current Kuat Sherpa 2.0 can't accommodate my Stumpjumper's long wheelbase.

Still waiting for delivery. They are 45 days out for orders unless you pay for expedited shipping right now.

I’ve got a single with two add-ons.

I like it a lot.

Only downside is that it is not great with a bike with full coverage fenders. Doable, but kind of a PITA.

I had one for several years. It was workwise as we say in the trades: reliable, easy to use and had a tough, no nonsense way about it. When I sold it (having taken up recumbent trikes) I had guys lined up to buy it and got a good price.

I have a single with two additional trays. They just don't make them any better. Main tray has fat tire extensions, holds everything from road bike to 27.5x4.5 no problem, solid.

As everyone has said in this thread, you will be very happy with it. If you plan on buying any locks to either lock the bike(s) to the rack or to the lock the rack to your vehicle, I suggest you buy them all at once from 1Up. If you do that, 1Up will send you locks can be used with the same key. If you order the locks at different times from them, they will not do that for you.

and if you want it to look more "finished" or cool, get the black. I got a single in black, since I use it solo 95% of the time, but got the regular trays for the couple times a year when I haul the family's bikes on vacation, I couldn't justify the additional expense for the 2 extra trays.

My 1up rack has outlasted the first car I had it on. When I needed to convert it from roof mount to hitch mount, they knew what parts I needed to make the switch. Best rack I have owned in 20 years of riding.

FYSA:

If you are going to use it for 3 or more bikes, you are better off getting the double rack then add up to two singles. According to 1UP it is sturdier than getting a single and adding up to three more singles.

For 4 bikes... yes, you need to start with a double (they are pretty clear about only using two add-ons). But for three you use a single as the base.

If you only transport one bike a lot of the time, a single has an advantage over a double as it folds up completely out of the way on most cars. No need to move it to get in and out of the rear of your car. This was the main selling point for me for buying the 1UP at all.

YMMV

I have a 1 up and love it. However look at https://www.quikrstuff.com . It’s an update from the original designer/owner of the 1 Up.

That will be awesome if these finally get produced. Cal (I think) was trying to get this effort off the ground a few years back, got a bunch of folks to pre-order, and then it never went anywhere. Hope this new outfit gets it done.

IMO, the biggest two improvements over the 1up are the no-tools wheel size adjustment and the easy to reach release latch that automatically extents as you add each add-on.

I currently have a Yakima Hold Up and have had that for about 10 years....Still in perfect working condition, but I find that 90% of the time. Back when I looked at these racks before, for some I was not a fan, however, being older and wiser now, I plan to sell my Yakima and pick up the 1Up Single, with the Add on so when I need the second rack, I can easily install it.

I looked at these last night...the pricing is absolutely ridiculous. I love the updates they have and would order one if it was not almost 600 for the single and another 400 for the add on....sorry, can't justify that.
