After having the chain derail when shifting to the small chain ring for the second time, I installed a chain catcher. It seems to solve the problem.

Here’s my PA-10 just recently finished in time for a couple of retro rides here in the UK. Not an authentic build but in the right spirit of the original I like to think.

Thank you ob2s 😀 Seeing your avatar I’m guessing you’re a Peugeot enthusiast? The serial # is 091088, stamped on the NDS rear dropout. I would like to know what year it was built but so far I can only narrow it down to the late 1960s.

Your serial is interesting in that from the 60s to 70s Peugeot went 6 to 7 digits, but they made that transition late 1970 once they produced 8,912 bicycles after yours. So you have a 1970 made frame. There are times that a frame built in 19[6-7]X would be used to build a 19[6-7]X + 1 or 2 model. You can use websites like Home or Cycles Rétro-Peugeot to see what decal set and component spec was advertised as a specific model year, which ALSO varies by country. I am indeed a Peugeot enthusiast....I also have one of these, not often seen 'round these parts

Rare Jeunet frameset

New to me and yet to be built up Jeunet Reynolds 531 frameset with Campagnolo dropouts. My first French frame. Will be slowly collecting French components and plan to build it up over the coming winter.

Thanks, they're not the original tyres on the bikes--probably a little wider than original. I like those Nitto bars, they're the B355 Kite bar; I could use a slightly taller stem though to bring them up a little higher.

but you have Campagnolo drops, permission to use Campagnolo.
might have to stay French headset, review the steerer length, and might need Mafac brakes

I for some reason desire a Peugeot, perhaps it's the striped frames and the colors. I wish I grabbed a mountain bike I saw on facebook a while ago, but unfortunately I didn't have enough spare parts as I do now, so I couldn't go adopting frame sets. Now I'm going nuts because I can't find a frames set that has forged drop outs and is my size to use my spare parts on
I saw a very nice looking marseille, green and striped a few weeks ago for $50, but I thought it was going to be a bit on the small side.

Maybe you just need to get a route in a more upscale neighborhood?

Hi,

some pictures of my recently purchased bike.
Bernard Hinault , Model "King".
Colombus Neuron, which is for sure high end steel for the frame.
I purchased it because I like a lot the paint job on it, Campagnolo chorus, Specialité TA, Mavic rims , ....
Not totally vintage, around 1995, but a very beautiful bike. Not very common, even here in france.

Most of the Peugeot's I see for sale certainly look like they belong on the curb
It's not in reference to the profession, more my tastes and my inability to come up with a nongeneric name on a website. Most I've spent on a bike since starting to buy used ones this year was $20, though the cost after fixing them and new parts, I rather not keep track of. It's easy to take on more projects if you only spent $10 to begin with.
Ironically enough the two bikes that are in the best mechanical condition/highest quality as is were free off facebook a small trek 7.2 that only needed a tube, and a bianchi sport sx that's tiny that I just put two tubes in and need to put new brake housings on.
Whether that's a positive reflection of my luck, or a negative one of my buying habits, I have yet to find out

A friend asked me to refurbish his brother's old Peugeot as it has been sitting derelict for years in his garage. The bike will be presented to him as a gift whenever I get it completed. We are not sure if the bike was purchased here or in Europe where the owner toured on it while he was there. It appears to have had the mudguards and rack since new, perhaps some sort of tourist's model. The brakes appear newer than the date on the hubs and components, 1977. My friend Doug says it will likely end up in his brothers living room.

This looks very similar to a PX8 that I bought in 1972. i got it at a French Military post exchange in Kaiserslautern, FRG where I was stationed in the Army. Components, rack and fenders were similar to bike pictured. It also had Soubetiz headlight (with yelow bulb) and taillight. My bike was a French market bike.
