Shimano Road disc on IS mounts?
I want to assemble road bike that has IS mounts. I was going to buy a 105 or Ultegra group-set. But when i picked up the frame from a LBS he told Shimano road only comes in flat mount, and there is no adapter to IS. Any other solutions? Could I use a mountain bike style brake like the SLX M7000 calipers?
I've been online for hours reading about bike part compatibility. My brain hurts.

The Shimano website lists a BR-R785 Post Mount caliper in the Ultegra components group. The groupsets probably come with the flat mount calipers, but they can be swapped out for the post mount calipers.

Yes, you can run MTB calipers on your road levers. As mentioned above, BR-RS785 is the Ultegra post mount caliper, which is a rebranded XT.
I've run GRX shifters to 785 calipers using BH90 hoses.

Thanks everyone. I found a compatibility chart on Shimano's website. Looks like the BR-RS785 are the only calipers that are officially compatible with never style ultegra shifters. I'm glad to here other people are succsuful mixing and matching!

As another option, if you like the Shimano Road calipers, these guys make an adapter for flat mount calipers on IS mount frames/forks. Only one I know of.
