Addiction 2021.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

All of the seniors in my little town, who wished to be vaccinated, are. Just the final two weeks for the full effects to kick in. The younger members of the town have decided the pandemic is effectively over, apparently. Masks are coming off in a steady stream. It's disquieting.
We saw similar activity within days of the first round being administered. There must have been an announcement from on high, because it ceased as quickly as it appeared.

Yeah, this is why we’ll still be wearing masks in a year.

Hey MoAlpha we are watching network news and TV advert states prevagen improves memory.

Of course there is no good or credible evidence to support this claim. How can the company get away with such a blatant misrepresentation?

Thanks. Compared to the autoimmune problem, this (should be) a small bump in the road. The surgery was outpatient, a couple weeks ago, and if I was less cautious and listened to rebel-rouser datlas, I could already be riding again.

Hey! It contains an ingredient found in Jellyfish, who are widely known for their phenomenal memories. Who among us has not heard the old saying, "A Jellyfish never forgets"?

It’s all in the verbal fine print, I suppose.

As far as the FDA is concerned, all they have to say is that their snake oil product is not intended to treat, diagnose, or prevent any disease.

Thanks for all the tips on grease gun operation. I have a mental block about going to YouTube. And once I realized my error, I remembered the process, from the last time I did it, thirty or so years ago. Probably 40. I think I'll remember it for the next time.
You professional mechanics probably haven't used one in forty years either. I learned that lithium grease is not nearly as difficult to work with, and clean up after, as regular old wheel bearing grease.

Oh, man. What joy!

We are having a sedate glass of wine tonight to drink the health of the kids and also one of our closest friends who is critically ill.

Duane first, then Greg years later. Dickie is still around, I think mid 70s. Butch Trucks (their original drummer) offed himself in 2017. His nephew is Derrick Trucks.
Here is Derrick with a jar on his finger.

I forgot about Berry Oakley, their bassist, died a year after Duane in a similar m/c crash near the same place Duane died.

The grease gun at the shop is a pneumatic pump that feeds off of a 25 (?) gallon drum. Cars don't have any grease fittings anymore, though. Well, rarely. I do have a hand grease gun and you stick it into the tub and pull the plunger back and lock it before you put it back together. Or put in a cartridge. You're right, I can't remember the last time I used it.

BIG Derek Trucks fan.
He and Doyle Bramhall played on the Clapton/JJ Cale tour. First time I saw him play..

I could note my latest tribulation.

Last Friday I got my second Moderna. Midday Saturday I started getting chills. It went downhill from there--aches, fever--the worst I've felt (sickness-wise) in at least seven years. I ate one time in two days. On Sunday I threw up a drink of water. First time I've vomited in more than a decade. (Should have pre-hydrated). I sat in the car in the sun trying to get warm, and still couldn't work up a sweat. A brutal 36 hours. Avoid.

If I recall, they did get in trouble years ago and had to change their ads slightly. Or maybe my memory is failing. Not sure.

I get my second Pfizer on 4/28. Hoping for the best.

If I'm over my nerve pain I'm heading to Pennsylvania in June sometime. Maybe I'll swing by on my way back to GA. I don't think my fitness level or yours will be very good by then. Perhaps we can order the @datlas at the local Chipotle in lieu of a ride.
