4 of us did 40 miles. Nice day, got into the mid 80s by the end. Friend had a coupon for a free pizza at a cafe near his house, which is where we start the ride. So I gorged on pizza and home made potato chips and now I'm way too full.

It might be too P&R, but I will speak my mind anyway. I am NOT a fan of Paxlovid. it's a dirty drug with lots of interactions and side effects. The emergency use authorization states it's for people who are high risk for hospitalization or death from covid19. The current strains and immunity mean that the virus nowadays gives you a cold. The chances of hospitalization or death from this is very low in healthy people and actually still reasonably low in patients with chronic conditions. It would have been a big lifesaver early in the pandemic, but at this point I actually think it does more harm than good.
That said, when I tell patients this they are angry and say I don't ******g care, doc....I want that medicine. So I sometimes have to order it for "customer satisfaction."
/end rant

Must have slept wrong or something. This morning had slight mobility issues with my neck, but through the day the pain started to build. Now I only find comfort if I hold my neck in a specific position. I highly dislike when this happens, must be the cold. I’m getting old.

So on my ride to vacation in NC a couple of weeks ago I developed a pain on the inside of my left knee. Basically took the last two weeks off of the bike to rest it and it had finally started feeling better.
This morning I was walking out of my house to ride to work and my right foot slipped off the steps of my porch. Twisted my left knee on recovery and now it’s giving me some pain again
Looks like any day off ride tomorrow is going to have to be an easy one.

Today I found a pair of Park Tools needle nose pliers I lost many years ago. I waited and waited for them to turn up and, when they didn't, bought another pair a year or so ago. I had become convinced that they had grown legs and walked away. I had good reason, at the time, for this belief, but that has now passed. I can't even say where it was I found them; they just turned up in the secret place I always put them, to prevent them growing legs. I can assure you they weren't there a year ago. Or last week. It's all very odd.

Had to make a hygiene stop on a busy road so I took my bike into the corn field with me.

The average age of our Retired Old Guy’s Ride today was 72.5 years. Give us 45 miles at 15.5 mph.

I used to joke that I was so hardass I’d quit working out for a month just for the challenge of coming back. I don’t joke like that anymore.

The first commutes of bike commute season are complete. Think I'll roll the Lemond tomorrow. The single speed is fun, but geared a little too low, until it's geared a little too high for a minute.
