Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah. You make a well thought out and presented argument. However that guy in my brain that is in charge of gear procurement is screaming rather loudly.

I have found a right red22 mechanical lever for under $200.00. Other adds I have looked at suggest the levers themselves are the same as 10 speed. Which tells me I could swap them out and still have matching cockpit. And 11 speed. A 11/28 cassette is around $40.00 (sunshine brand. I have one and it works just as well as the force cassette) So now it's seriously doable.

More gears....more better...amiright?

They don't much care either way. After they destroy the rental they're in, they'll move on to lighter pastures.

It’s never pluralized, always singular, “herb”.

Parts ordered. Wow chains are still pricey! The cassette was cheaper than the chain.

Depending on where you live, definitely. When I upgraded the Ritchey from 8 speed 12-25 to 10 speed 12-30, it was just like having the same cassette, but now with two lower gears allowing me to climb at higher cadence, which made riding it more fun again.

So then I built up the Litespeed with the old 8 speed bits from the Ritchey and ride it on the same routes with that old 12-25. I must be stupid or something.

Although, back before pot was legal in CA, people wanting to grow their own in places like Berkeley would go in and ask what you need to grow tomatoes indoors. Under no circumstances did you ask what you needed to grow pot, because the nursery owners were terrified of narcs.

My brother-in-law got kicked out of a plant nursery in Berkeley for asking what he needed to grow medicinal tomatoes.
