Meh. I don't particularly care for plastic forks, but then I'm not a roadie. The rest looks pretty cool.

Gunnar does a great job and they are solidly influenced by C&V. They have that strong Schwinn and Waterford connection by nature of still being owned by the Schwinn family. I really want a Hyper-X someday. And you can get a steel fork with any of their bikes. I plan on getting a steel and a carbon fork when I order mine.

That is a beauty. Every bit of it. I don't normally like carbon forks on a steel bike (entirely based on looks) but it totally fits here. Tig welded bikes can be beautiful, too.

It looks like it just wants to go fast...it has a very purposeful look to me.
Just picked up its cousin a couple of months ago. It is my grail bike and I just love it...

I just finished the first non-shakedown ride. Dayton to Xenia and back. What a fast, responsive AND comfortable bike!!
I've owned some racing style bikes over the years. I get rid of them because they feel twitchy to this old, fat guy.
I really like this bike!!!

Nice bike. Gunnar produces a very good product.
Black components, sloped TT, bladed spokes, low spoke count, brifters, threadless stem, etc = hardly a classic.
Perpetual gripe for BF.
another great bike for that missing Forum we don't have for 'tweener' bikes. Not C&V not modern.

Gunnar has been on my radar since one of my former club ride members built up a wicked sweet pink Roadie. Not something you’d do C&V style but certainly a capable carbon alternative for crit night.

I have a Gunnar.....>>ahem<<..........Rockhound. I think it's a '99. It's been several years since I've had it out but I put a bunch of hard offroad miles on it and loved every mile.

Some like the brand due to the associated history to Schwinn Paramounts. The longer head tube is a design element to reduce spacer stack.
I looked into Gunnar twice. Once while I was looking around for a modern steel road bike frame- I ended up taking a frame building class and making one myself. And once while I was looking for a modern steel gravel bike- I ended up buying a Fairlight Secan frame from England.
Gunnar was very willing to discuss ideas with me...to a point. They wouldnt get into the details of tubing, which I found odd since I was told they would customize it for me and my riding...I would think that would be reason to tell the customer whats being used and why. Their website was frustratingly basic and outdated information littered pages, which didnt make the research side of things fun.
Gunnar isnt inexpensive and there are tons of similar priced quality builders. I wouldnt consider a bike with a sloping top tube and extended head tube, carbon fork, and threadless stem to be modern classic, but thats just me. I bet the bike is fun to ride which is most important.

i had a Rockhound for a bit.
i got the frame & a couple of forks for $80. stuck seat post. ridden hard and put away wet many times.
i powder coated it and road it for a bit. but i'm not much of a trail rider. i sold it with the hopes of finding a good home for it. I think the guy who bought it mostly commutes with it - not sure. but he really likes it also.
probably i should of kept it. now i've got a '90s bianchi fully rigid trail bike. not as nice as this.....
