My take on an old trek 620
I bought this because it seemed like a really versatile platform. Turns out it's a wonderful bike. I went 650b and had to use a 750 center pull to reach in the back. A tektro 559 is enough in front. The 126mm rear hub has a 14-36 cassette. Hand selected from tons of crap in my basment. The derailleurs are suntour as are the bar ends. The crank is Shimano deore from about 1980. It allows a lower seatpost height. The fenders are longboards.
I had almost forgot about this bike then I needed a ride quickly this morning and it was the easiest one to get out the door. Damn is it a nice ride!

Old Treks are great bikes. I have a 1982 Trek 720 that I want to turn into a 650b bike but first I need to build some wheels.

C'mon, 52telecaster , take the plunge! I liked my '83 620 as a 700c bike, but I LOVE it as a dedicated 650B bike.

Y'all are really messing with my head as I ponder my upcoming 640 build. I'm in love with all of these. First thing I need to figure out is if I go drop bars -- ctak yours is a looker -- or upright, cause I'm digging 52telecaster 's too.
