What did I do to my tubeless tire?
I recently went tubeless and felt that the valves were getting clogged. Let the air out of the tire to remove the valve core and sealant started leaking out of the sides at various points on the tire. When I went to put air back in the tire, it wouldn't seat/seal. How do I fix this? And how do I avoid it in the future?

No responses in 24 hours? Must have stumped you all. Well, I took it to the shop and they were having a hack of a time seating it as well. It was a very loose tire (stock, 3 years old) so I just had them upgrade with new tires. Still not sure how competent I will be at seating tubeless tires myself.

I would clean everything really really well and then dry fit which you should do with any tubeless set up and if it holds air you are good if not you might try a different combination. In your case it sounds like you are using a worn out tire that is too old and stretched to be of use for tubeless.

Tubeless on my 25psi mtb has been flawless for the past 4-5 years. Tires seat easy (using an Airshot pressure canister between the floor pump and tube valve), and the 20-30 small punctures I've had all sealed almost immediately after pulling out the thorns (using Stan's sealant).
But I still see/hear so many road bikes with tubeless issues, either not being able to seat the beads (on the side of the road, without the air canister mentioned above) or not getting the sealant to work on punctures, which is why I still haven't made the switch to tubeless on the road bike. Although I do like the idea of not getting a front flat while going downhill at 40+ mph.
