Bike Parts increase

Im going to have to start selling my blood to keep my bikes rolling. 60 bucks for a decent quality tire even cheap beer is getting expensive.

Hondo - I know what your saying... It's kinda ridiculous. And lets not even talk about Vintage components. Here is a serendipitous find on tires. I purchased a set of these to use while I was waiting for a pair of Paselas to come in. In spite of having to send one tire back for a defect that may have been a fault of shipping, these tires have held up well. I don't ride far but the roads I am on are pretty much torn up so I am impressed...

Check out carbide-studded snow bike tires.
That ought to make you feel much better about 60 bucks for one tire.

Yup, I run Vittoria Terreno Drys 700x38 on my gravel bike which I ride most of the time. 53 bucks a tire on avg but they wear well and hold up. Cheap beer in an overpriced Yeti cooler sitting on the tailgate of my truck listening to a ball game or some tunes is the the way to go lol. Just noticing higher prices on everything.

I am rather glad I am not in America nowadays. In Japan we haven’t seen much in the way of inflation or shortages during the pandemic, the prices of many goods are lower than when I moved here in 2006. The only supply chain issues we have here are computer chips and McDonald’s french fries (one order per person, regular size only). Oddly, Costco here is still fully stocked with American beef, poultry and other fresh goods, not to mention the New Zealand cherries and Kiwis, and Chilean raspberries and such. But then America seems to have been paralyzed by the pandemic more than other places, in Japan the government has not really mandated anything at all. The government “asked” businesses, schools, and such to close or limit hours during the national states of emergency, but compliance was voluntary, and enough stayed open that the basic trade network and infrastructure was only mildly affected.

Fortunately I stocked up on enough tires before the shipping crisis to last me a couple of years... especially at the rate I'm *not* riding. Due to chronic neck pain from injuries my cycling mileage dropped from 6,000 miles per year to 1,800 miles in 2021, and no rides since October 2021. Mostly I've been walking and jogging.

And I've always patched tubes as much as possible, so any price increases in tubes hasn't affected me. I've stashed away a few latex tubes for my go-fast bike for days when I'm feeling my oats, but I won't be using those anytime soon since I'm in running shape but not in cycling shape.

I need to drag my trainer out from under the bed or in the closet and start moving my legs in circles again.

I patch tubes at a rate of 10x buying new, but I am out. What is good source for decent tubes for 700x25 tires? Previously I've used Michellin Airstop or Conti Race 28. Bike shop only has bins of unbranded tubes...

I bought a 4 pack of Continental heavy duty tubes for my gravel bike from Amazon and it was reasonable. Like most of us I use a lot of vulcanizing patches and keep the tubes rolling long as possible. I keep the stick on patches for emergencies but usually ride with two extra tunes since I ride in the boondocks.
