Does it matter if tires match on a kids' bike trailer?

One of two tires on my Retrospec kid trailer recently blew out and will no longer seat. I'd like to replace it with the OEM tire, to match the other one, but it seems that JIUMA 16 x 1.75 tires are available only at wholesale.

1. Does it actually make a difference if you mix and match tires on a kid trailer? I'm a little concerned that variation in width, pressure, tread, and rolling resistance between two wheels in parallel would actually lead to tracking problems. Is that a real concern?

2. Alternately, does anybody know where to get one of the OEM JIUMA tires?

Thanks!

I've never heard of Jiuma tires, but I'd guess that they are one of many cheap tires imported from China, That size is common, inexpensive, and seemingly available so I'd recommend replacing the pair. To answer your question, though, I wouldn't think just replacing one tire would have much effect.

Are you using this for kids or cargo?

I doubt you'll notice an off brand tire, or one that is a slightly different size.

I did manage to tail load my kid trailer once. That wasn't fun.

Anyway, if you are going to induce something like a wobble, you'll notice it in the first 5 minutes of your ride.

Schwalbe Marathon has 20" tires. I don't know about 16. Also a Tannus solid tire would be a lifetime tire, if you're hauling cargo.

What is the tread like, smooth or knobby. It's not hard to find tires in the same diameter and width. Check the tire sidewall and see if it is the same type tire as used on recumbent bikes. That is ISO 305. I don't own anything with a 16 inch tire but sure was surprised to find that 20" tires come in two different rim sizes, ISO 406 and ISO 451. Even though both are 20" tires, the sure aren't interchangeable. Pretty much any tire will work but I would try to match the tread type. Try eBay if you can't find anything locally. Example for kid's bike $16 delivered https://www.ebay.com/itm/302825100652. Sunlite is a brand I have used for tubes a lot in the past. Good quality. One with a smoother street tread by Cheng Shin $19 https://www.ebay.com/itm/324292710307
