Got all suited up to ride this morning grab the madone and the back tire is flat. At this point I am throwing these damn bontrager tires away. What a waste. I almost want to return the rear but I don’t think I can.

Throwing gators on today, not to happy about it. The GP5000 on the C2 are too wide for the madone.

Have had the R3 on my Domane for a year, and no problems.

Trek has a 30 day satisfaction guaranty, and will take anything back within that time for any reason, used or not.

They are some of the problem.

The fact that people can sue for anything and everything is another part of the equation.

This statement is not as true as one would believe. Sure, you can sue and allege anything you want, but the following do a pretty good job of keeping suits to real claims:

• The cost of litigation - Lawyers are not typically filing suits that they don't believe have a high likelihood of success if they are taking it on a contingency fee basis. We have to weigh how much of our time and money we want to devote to a case that has a low possibility of success. If the client is paying the fees and costs, they don't typically want to foot the bill without a good chance of winning.
• Court procedures - There are penalties for bringing frivolous cases, and they do a pretty good job of keeping those out of the courthouse. I can recount maybe one case in my 37 years that was frivolous

"You can sue for anything" has simply become a rally cry for those that do not understand the courts and their procedures. There's not really much substantive truth in that statement.

The bigger issue is medical billing practices. The high prices and subsequent insurance markdowns are used to spread the cost of medical care across society. If you are afraid of "socialized medicine" then you need to realize that it's already here. It's just that the insurance companies are the ones socializing the cost of medical care.

I thought one of the reasons medical cost were so high was to cover the cost of malpractice suits. That’s more what I was referring to.

Well, if you look at the State of Texas which has some of the most stringent laws against malpractice suits (to the extent that very few are filed), the medical costs and insurance costs have not gone down as a result but continue to go up. The Repubs that were pushing malpractice tort reform when Bush was governor sold the idea that malpractice suits drove up the cost of care and insurance without any support for the argument, and we have seen that that was never the case.

A catastrophic, high deductible, plan for my family now costs almost $3,000 per month. Hardly affordable.

As for malpractice suits, Texas (and most states that I know of) has always had a requirement that before a suit could be brought against a doctor or hospital, the plaintiff had to obtain and file a certificate signed by a doctor in the same area of practice that stated that the treating providers against whom the suit was brought did not follow the "standard of care" in providing the care that led to the injury.

Looked up an one D&H system map. Think you’re right. Maryland is a bit SW of Cobbleskill. But with all the other lines in the area, the car could be from one of them. DL&W merged with Erie in 1960 to become the EL. I’m still think Erie or EL. D&H was blue and grey with yellow accents.

We used to take the Eerie Lackawanna from Central (but West) NJ to Hoboken BITD. I liked the old fashioned seats/benches that had a pivoting back so you could face forward (or backwards if you preferred). I recall the seats were made of cane or wicker. My dad took that line as a commuter for years.
