Loud Rattling Help
Hi all, I’m hoping you can help because I’m stumped.
I’ve been riding a 2011 Ellsworth Epiphany for the last few years and it’s been basically bulletproof until the last 2 weeks. Basically, when ever I’m in any gear but the lowest 3 or 4 gears (1x11) it rattles like a Walmart bike on even the smallest bumps and I can’t pin it down. Nothing is loose (not even the bottle cage). I’ve ridden it past friends to see if they can pinpoint it and no one can.
I tore down the rear hub yesterday and found a broken fitting (for lack of a better term) and was sure that was the issue. I swapped out the rear wheel and hit the trail only to find the rattling is still there.
I’m completely stumped. Any ideas?
Components:
Fox Float front and rear shock
Deore XT M8000 crank, derailleur & shifter, cassette, hydraulic brakes & levers,
standard seat post
Mavic Crossmax ST wheel set.

On a full suspension bike of that age, I'm guessing some suspension bushings/bearings are worn out.
Otherwise, rattling is usually from the cassette when someone forgets to put on a spacer behind the cassette. You said you swapped wheels, so that is probably not the problem.
