Tyre sizes

I’ve just realised I’ve purchased some 700x42c tires to replace my current 700x45c ones. Will they still fit?

Almost for sure, yes.

Going down a little in size is only a problem if your tire is too narrow for the rim. That won't be a problem here; it's more of an issue if you try to put 25mm tires on a rim designed for 45mm tires.

I'm sure you'll find you are in the range.
