Dahon HIT
Dahon is coming out with a new world market 'pandemic special'. 20", fold-in-half, nine-speed, 300# limit Deltec cable-reinforced frame with ten-year warranty, dynamo hub + LED headlamp. They say "spring, 2021".
I've seen some suggested retail pricing from $425 to €560, depending on local tariffs, fees, shipping, etc. If that holds, it's a pretty impressive spec for that kind of money.
The model features special graphics of a fist smashing a COVID virus.

Sounds almost too good to be true. If it is, it could impact sales at Citizen, Zizzo, etc.

Hi all, do some of you have any experience with Dahon HIT?
I am 198 cm tall rider. I consider purchase it, I would use it only on urban rides and commuting, no touring, no off road ...
However the max rider's height os officially declared 185 cm. Againts my 198, do you think it would be really so uncomfortable? Any safety issue?

Thanks.
I would be happy to try it first, but this bike is not available in my country (Slovakia, Central Europe). The only option would be e-shop, bike delivered from abroad, unfortunately...

I'm about 173cm and that style of Dahon fits well without having to lean far forward. I think you would be quite cramped on one.

If I understand well, this bike is aimed at the Asiatic market, not EU and US ?
If its the case, like many bikes aimed at the Asiatic market, it will most probably be too small for tall Europeans/Americans.

The website that can't be referred says the HIT has a seat post-to-handlebar distance of 665mm at maximum seat post extension, and a saddle-to-pedal distance of 945mm at maximum seat post extension. These dimensions are identical to the Speed model, sold worldwide for the last two decades.
Nearly all folding bikes are 'one size fits most'. To open up the cockpit a bit there are aftermarket handlebar extenders available from several sources and various vendors.
There are aftermarket extra length seat posts available as well.

This bike is aimed at the fat American market, NOT the "Asiatic" market. I'm 5'11", and my Dahon bikes fit me nicely.

You are right, with a maximum riders weight of 137kg, the Dahon hit seems more aimed at fat EU or US cyclists than Asiatic cyclists !

Unfortunately, after having Covid, I fall into the fat American category. I'm trying to change this as I type. Having a 300lb weight limit (I'm nowhere near that, thank gawd) just makes it easier for people to get back into riding. And it also allows people who've never had the pleasure of going with a folder the opportunity to join the fold. It's a win for all IMO.

I didn't say it was a critique of fat EU/USA cyclists. I said what I said to show the bike being overbuilt with a higher weight capacity is due to the heavier weight of people here in North America. We're heavier in general, as most are larger in height, build, and musculature. We're also the home to some of the fattest people in the world. We don't rank #1, but we're up there. #13 I believe. Either way, this is a bike (Dahon HIT) aimed at heavy North American fatties. That would be me,... Otherwise, stop taking everything so darn seriously. Crikey! Have a biscuit and chill. Happy Belated Holidays!

Thank you all for remarks. My decision is to purchase Dahon Hit only in case I can test it (ot the same frame on another Dahon model).
tcs Shipping is not an option for me, I would like to test it before purchase. Replacing of a seatpost by aftermarket longer one is not possible probably as far I believe a seatpost on Hit ("DAHON Aluminum, 33.9 mm x 580 mm, max load 150kg) is a part of high-weight reinforcing measures and is specific to this Dahon model.

I'm in quite similar situation regarding Dahon HIT. I'm also taller(193cm) and heavier than average. I was wondering if you bought it and if yes, are you satisfied with it?

The HIT press release said 'shipping globally'. The HIT is listed on both the Dahon USA and Dahon EU websites. I can't mention the retail website in the US where the HIT is in stock and orderable without risking a lifetime ban on this forum.
The website that can't be referred says the HIT has a seat post-to-handlebar distance of 665mm at maximum seat post extension, and a saddle-to-pedal distance of 945mm at maximum seat post extension. These dimensions are identical to the Speed model, sold worldwide for the last two decades.
