Reply from the seller. The crossbar is nowhere to be found. However, the lugs are still on:

I picked this bike out from someones throw away day pile in Alexandria. I do not have the cross bar. The "Stubs" left on the bike on each end of the bar are just that. I have never ridden the bike as the tires take a special schrader valve, about 1/2 the size of a regular valve and I do not have the pump to inflate them. Part numbers/labels are Gear train Shimano Light Action, mks AR-8 and Sea Tech.

I hope that helps, I did not see any other numbers or labels that were not in the ad.

You know, it might not be as dangerous as many folks think, look at those modern full suspension bicycles with 10cm missing from the seat post. I think Trek built one of their step through designs with just a duty down tube a couple of years ago, I don't remember off hand which one though.... A bicycle is a lot stronger then a lot of people think.

it will probably break off at the bottom bracket,

Someone probably locked the bike via the top tube and he had to cut it off to steal it.

OMG, I think that's a Ironman. RobbieTunes would know. That looks just like the color of the last Ironman I acquired. According to Robbie, when he saw it, it's somewhat hard to find. It's not the same as Celeste, but Celeste bar tape works perfectly with it. Gee I hate to see that happen to such a nice bike. What a total waste.

I bought that bike back in 2010

After more than 12 years, I wanted to post on this one. Unfortunately I cannot post any pictures.

Maybe I can split my answer into 10 separate posts to circumvent the problem. Let's go.

I actually took a look at that bike back then - I found it as ridiculous like all of you - but I had time and wanted to see it :-)

I was testing it and it was immediately clear that this is not rideable at all. The seller agreed that it's basically useless and he gave it to me for free.

I'm actually pretty happy how this has turned out. Seeing the 12-year old CL link, I was thinking "I can't believe nobody downloaded a picture of this thing" And then 12 years later, there it is.
