what year is my Chimayo Backroads?
Hi there forum-ers. I can't find anything on this (see attached). I read it's a Fuji, but the serial number doesn't fit the publicly available cross reference. Can one of you knowledgeable forum peeps find a year for it? Or, can you put a value on this? It's in good condition. It's a 3x7 setup. Thanks

what year is this? what's the current value?

My guess is around 1990, but the Shimano components should have date codes, keeping in mind a code from late in the year could mean it's the next model year. An easy place to find it is on the inside of the crank arm. Shimano date codes
Value ~$100
Value ~$100

Pretty sure that is a Backroads Chimayo. Backroads is the brand- it is/was a touring company, and Chimayo is the model.
I had a Backroads Mistaya touring frame for a handful of years that I purchased here and actually sold here too, now that I think of it. The Mistaya was identical to the 1990 Fuji Saratoga except the Fuji had downtube cablestops while the Mistaya had downtube brazeons for downtube shifters or STI cable stops.
Your Chimayo looks really similar- it has the same spoon seat stay caps, the same brake bridge shape on the seat stays, same unicrown fork with mid-blade eyelet and only one dropout eyelet, same rear drop out, and the lugs look the same too. Your bike has top tube cable stops instead of the cable guides that are on the frame I used to have, and the Mistaya had a spot for 3 spare spokes to be placed on the drive side chainstay.
The Mistaya was a drop bar too, that seems like the biggest difference.
Anyways, maybe Backroads offered the two bikes concurrently and you could choose between a flat bar or drop bar bike? Looks like yours is from late 80s or '90, for what its worth.
What does the sticker on the downtube say?
My frame from a tour back in 2016.
