Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

lol. Is this where I'm supposed to get on the bus? How that team actually still sells ticket is beyond me. I still believe they only exist to sell liquor. Some people need a reason to drink. Being a Lions fan qualifies as a reason.

We have to weigh how much of our time and money we want to devote to a case that has a low possibility of success. If the client is paying the fees and costs, they don't typically want to foot the bill without a good chance of winning.
  • Court procedures - There are penalties for bringing frivolous cases, and they do a pretty good job of keeping those out of the courthouse. I can recount maybe one case in my 37 years that was frivolous
"You can sue for anything" has simply become a rally cry for those that do not understand the courts and their procedures. There's not really much substantive truth in that statement.

The bigger issue is medical billing practices. The high prices and subsequent insurance markdowns are used to spread the cost of medical care across society. If you are afraid of "socialized medicine" then you need to realize that it's already here. It's just that the insurance companies are the ones socializing the cost of medical care.
Bingo on the last paragraph. Billing practices are especially brutal on the uninsured for Emergency Department, Hospital and Urgent Care claims. The ancillary charges really rack up and many of the billing departments are exceptionally good at up-coding that borders on fraud.

Meanwhile, your average PCP gets like 60 bucks for a routine visit.

During my days as a hired gun, mainly for plaintiffs around the country, I shut down some real garbage suits which already had certificates of merit from medical hacks and complaints filed. I was presumably saving them money, but I wondered what kind of cases were subsidizing my considerable hourly rate.

The area surrounding LGA isn't anything to write home about, either.

For the Cervelo peeps here.. with the R5 accepting 34mm max tire, why would anyone buy a Caledonia 5? The geometry doesn’t seem vastly different.

BTW, my second place was all outdoor rides which is out of the norm for this time of year. I had 8 straight days of outdoor until it rained all day yesterday.

Anyway, Kudos!

Except that I judged well over half of what I reviewed as non-meritorious instead of giving it the thumbs-up, hoping to get deposed or testify shamelessly for the cash.

There's probably less differentiation than they'd like at this point, the Caledonia 5 was developed at a time when the R3 and R5 officially maxed out at 28mm tires, but there's probably still some comfort/compliance differences and some small stability/agility handling differences. The R5 is their all-out classic race machine - I know that their pro riders were complaining that it was too stiff, particularly the front end, so they made the new R5 a smidge more forgiving. That said, it's probably still stiffer than the Cal 5, which has sections of lower mod cf, iirc, and the dropped stays, both for compliance (and maybe a little aero on the stays). They made a point of mentioning fenders for the Cal 5, too - not sure if they have mounts for them or not...

The regular Caledonia probably makes the most sense for most people. The Cal 5 is there for the up-sale. The R5 appeals chiefly to the racer-boys.

I wish I could get my hands on a regular Caledonia frameset. I considered ordering the 105 and selling off the parts but that’s too much of a pain.

Brr. Most, if not all upcoming polar bear plunges will pale in comparison to this one.
