Hondo, here in Portland we have a small outfit making real tortillas. From masa, the old way. (They also sell the masa.) Three Sisters Nixtamal. Kinda a long drive, even by Texas standards but you won't be disappointed.

Nothing better than homemade tortillas made from scratch. Especially if an older Hispanic lady is making them.

That looks really good, I wanna try some! I'll have to make a pilgrimage to TJ some time and look for some (there's a TJ like a quarter mile away from my commute, and I can't be bothered to ever go)

Stop it! I'm drooling. I'd have to drive into Boston, and probably into an unsavory area to access an eatery with a menu like this. I miss living in Tejas sometimes.

naw, that little gringa is no good at making from-scratch corn tortillas, she's just a dirty cake-sniffer

I used to work with a Latina named Adelita, but we all called her by her nickname, Daisy. She was awesome.

I know right! He passed up some pretty tasty stuff to get that nasty Shiner Bock. Yes, I've had it. Lots of it. A LOT of it. Oh by the way, next week will mark one year with no al-kee-haul.

Hey, save yourself some time and gas, buy all three and do a test tasting... one can from each. Sip here, sip there... by the time you're finished... you're done.

...my brother in law's mom, Marion, who was pretty sharp and had a razor wit right on through her old age (she died a few years back), was a big Lemony Snicket fan. She read all the books, long before they made this TV streaming series, and raved about them at all our holiday table encounters. Marion was a pisser, as we used to say back East.

Pissa gotta drop the Rs. Had a teacher from Boston the accent drove me nuts until I got use to it he was a great teacher learned a lot. Last summer when I was in Pennsylvania this kid from NJ asks his dad can I say Howdy to them. Dad gave him a scolding but it was funny since we all laughed and told the kid Howdy is perfectly fine.

I can go about 3 days then the lure of ice cold beer takes over. Ingrained in the culture here to be considered alcoholic you have to drink ungodly amounts of booze. By definition 99% of the local population is alcoholic but in reality where booze has ruined your life probably 5%. Drunk driving isnít tolerated at all here not like it use to be. Drink have fun keep it reasonable and you are ok. Boredom is a factor that increases beer consumption sitting under a tree on the tailgate of your truck is relaxing but it is much more fun with a cold one. Now I sound like an advocate for alcohol abuse .

Yes, in today's market, I'm too cheap and too snobby to have to worry about becoming an alcoholic

two weeks in a row Texas blows a good lead and loses to another Oklahoma school! First Oklahoma now this week to Oklahoma State. Checked the score during my bike ride after halftime and true to form they blew another sizable lead. Another mediocre year probably end up 7-5 again. Anybody have any cold beer?

Congratulations. Quitting alcohol was the most liberating thing I've done.

Been drinking beer for 39 years since age 14. Won’t touch hard liquors. Never smoked thank goodness just that cold beer vice. Had a burger and sat out on the patio and watched people going into the store just to see how many walked out with beer. Like 8 out of 10. I asked the clerk how much beer do you all sell? Replied you wouldn’t believe how much beer goes out of here in a day. Bike routes I ride on always beer cans on the road everywhere. Rural areas tend to have high beer consumption I guess. Not drinking today that is for sure! Back in the day the parents let the kids drink a keg for the adults and a keg for the kids. Sounds crazy but that is how it was. Not so much today if at all because of liability. One route the same drunk hillbilly yells profanities at me but all I can do is laugh because he is making no sense. A bike ride is good to treat the beer flu but a better cure is not to drink in the first place lol.
