Another Colnago of unknown parentage,,,

Picked up this Colnago frame and fork for 75 bucks while visiting daughter in South Bend. That makes 2 bikes in 2 trips, I gotta stay away from there, bike shed is full! Anyway I mostly was interested in the Columbus fork for another Colnago I have that actually fits me, but this frame puzzles me, not sure just what model it is! Perhaps worth dealing with the rust and a repaint? The pics tell most of the story, but other facts are 70mm bottom bracket, 27.2 seat tube (tight but doable), holes in the rear dropout (portacatena?). Anyway, it did not quite match up with anything on the cycling-obsession.com colnago rundown, so if anyone can shed light it would be appreciated!

Bad respray!

Portacatena?

With over the BB cable guides and fluted seat stays, my non-expert 2 cents is a late 70's Super. Crimping on the stays, so not a Mexico, and "Colnago" on the fork crown rather than just the club, so not much earlier in the 70's.

I would say '78 Super, but that brake bridge is causing some disturbance in the force.... shouldn't it be the plain tube shaped with a "washer" on the rear side?

I don’t have knowledge of Colnago but it is definitely worth the effort at that price.

Frame and fork appear drilled for recessed brake application. Washer would be for nutted versions.

Agree with the others: late 70s Super.

Was kinda confused from the lack of the word Colnago pantographed on driveside chainstay or in the fluted seatstay, or even the word Super on the chainstay. Guess these came later?

We know the "parentage" is Colnago. I think the word you want is "lineage."
Nice 3-color paint scheme of blue, white, and rust, though. ha ha
That will take considerable effort to bring it back to the road. Hopefully the innards do not exhibit as much rusting.

Ah yes, lineage! Can never come up with the proper term when I need it anymore! Not too much rust inside but the Oaxalic bath will be on the list of what to do!

I’m usually one for saving patina, but yikes that paint job is rough.

Oxalic bath, then evaluate the paint. I suspect it will be yucky so the world is your oyster in replacing paint!

Here are couple more pics including seat lug attachment,,,, I have a Sport model, it shows a number of differences including 3 brake cable guides and

no cloverleaf cutouts in any of the lugs or on fork crown,
