Shimano 1st gen STI replacement brake hoods
I believe everything RX100-Dura Ace, the first generation STI's all use the same brake hoods. I don't know of anyone who makes reproductions. Aside from the occasional expensive NOS ones that pop up on ebay, does anybody know of a source?

The hoods of these 1st gen Brifters are not all exactly the same. The 7400 is somewhat different from the others, but I don't know if any of the others will give you a somewhat workable fit.
The 6400 is also a little different from the others (105, RX100,RSX) but is usable. There is a difference in the surface texture and the shape of the curves on the front part of the bracket, (the part in the area that the shifter cable exits and towards the point where the hood hooks unto the bracket), but it is pretty similar.
As far as replacements, don't think that any third party options ever existed for these. Only seen Shimano ones, in black or sometimes white. There is also some later ones that have 'button' for early Flight Deck but have only seen these a couple of times on the internet, not sure exactly which of the 1st gen Brifters these were made for.

I’m not sure if they are 1st generation, but every now and then a so-so set of aftermarket hoods show up on eBay. I think they are made by an individual and are a little crude, but they are probably better than wrapping handlebar tape.

Have also seen those on eBay but the hoods were for the ST-5500/6500 series (9 speed) brackets. Been quite a while since those listings were there.

At the end of the day I just couldn't bring myself to mount frankenstein-like hoods on an otherwise clean bike. YMMV.
