Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, yeah, but that's in a race where a larger gap indicates repeatedly burning matches to catch up again. On a non-race ride, would you really expect a small gap?

Understood, but we're talking big gaps, huge. Like, the gap between Michael Strahan's front teeth kind of big.

In senior softball we have a safe base at 1st, 3rd and home plate, and based on a recent close play at second we need one at 2nd too. Old guys mostly just play for fun, no need for anybody to get hurt. In fact I've only witnessed one fool slide into base in the last 7 years.

Touching the wrong home plate results in an out.

A technical crit, 60 of us on the course, and me tailgunning. I swear I was in rush hour traffic, and I couldn't pick the right lane to move up. Nominal power/real power. The gap is yuge. Those dang 50+ kids wouldn't give me a break.

A number of years ago I guess you could have said I mowed two lawns, as it's two lots and the small one used to be owned by another group. But one ownership now and I mow it all at once, obviously.

I suspect the talented, athletic young women that I get to watch play have a slightly different definition of "fun" on a softball field. That said, they're also probably less likely to blow a hammy when legging out a double - LOL

There's a youtube video where Ray Manzarek explains in detail how "Riders on the Storm" was recorded. Those type of videos mesmerize me probably because I have zero musical ability.

To be fair I never said I didn't like The Doors. I just recognize that they are a lot sillier and not nearly as deep as I thought they were when I was a teen. Still have some catchy tunes though.

Incorrect. Crows will raid an unguarded bird nest to take nestlings. And cats are a serious threat to small bird species everywhere. TTKU

When you're a teen, and especially when you're high, everything is either much funnier or more profound than when you're older and sober.
