Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey K1196A - love the Jonestown shot on 72 also..there often! As for that Roberts Valley Road climb...I've done it 3 times. First time I made it all the way up to the very top where the park is and threw up without even getting off the bike. It was Tuesday afternoon and there were no cars or people anywhere, and I wouldn't have cared. I remember hissing out loud "Damn - how much more is there"!?!?!?!!? Horrible! I only do that if I'm going to head back up Front St to Linglestown Rd and aim for home when I'm done! I'll grab a few empty roaders this weekend and post them here, it seems like K and I would have nothing but traffic in central PA but there are miles and miles of good rural roads like his pictures.

Zoomed in shot of the climb. Some cars snuck in so it's no longer an empty road ahead photo...

I got a PR on the climb 07:43!
I can't quite place that. Can you be more specific?

It's over by Treasure Island Casino. The hill is just off of Hwy 61, but this approach is heading toward Hwy 61 and when I get to the top I take Co 31 Blvd leading off to the right to get to 61 since the decent going down to the highway is quite steep with a stop sign at the bottom of a busy highway intersection. The other option would be to turn around and go back down the hill, but I like to ride down Co 7 to Welch.

One of our locals favorite climbs. The road drops into a steep descent down to lake level.
