Took my Grandson out for his first ride.
New to me 1982 Super Sport, not yet overhauled, pulling my 18 month old grandson along through the neighborhood on a new to me Instep trailer.
My grandson loved it, my legs, not so much. My neighborhood is full of hills. This should make me a stronger climber. Lol

That’s a really nice Panasonic-made sport tourer.
I remember a few years when I didn’t ride without one of those trailers behind me. When it came off I couldn’t believe how nimble the bike felt.

That's great. I'm sure you arent going far and have parent support but may I recommend doing a full overhaul so you arent stranded by a mechanical failure?

I would suggest building the SS up as a comfortable as possible tourer aimed at the hills for a pulling mule.
Triple up front, wide range in the back all with brifters for quick easy shifting while wrangling the load and anything else that helps with comfort and ease of operation so you can keep as much of your attention as possible focused on the cargo.

I am just embarrassed to ride a bike so dirty.

I am thinking that when I switch over to ride my 15 lbs Carbon Fiber wonder bike, I am really going to fly?

It is the most awesome thing in the world having grandkids. All the fun with none of the responsibilities. He brings so much joy to my life.

Most kids that age I’ve been around love riding in the trailer. I hope you both had fun despite all your hill climbing.

I went to a ride in Wisconsin that had some real hills and I blew up trying to climb. Since then I have been trying to learn to climb. Trying to control my heart rate. I am getting stronger. I think pulling this trailer around is really going to help.

Lovely pictures. I towed my two kids in a trailer like that one. Nice memories. Now my daughter-in-law is talking about having kids. I'm excited.

OH I see you are in the Chicago area.... my hometown.. what area are you by? I grew up in Oak Lawn, and last lived in Homewood for 10 years, spent some time near Midway airport. We are now out in Chesterton, IN near the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore

Way back when, my bud’s dad built a bike sidecar out of wood and hauled him and his brother around in it. It was a pretty neat contraption. I think there’s a photo of them in it around somewhere...

I loved everything about this.
Having owned a Ural sidecar mororcycle, i’d get familiar with the handling characteristics before I built or bought one for my bicycle.
But for flat family rides, I support the idea 100%!

Grew up on the northside of Chicago. We moved out to the suburb's when our kids started school. I live in West Dundee Il now. That is close to Elgin.
