Beagle Gap Trail Question

We are coming to Charlottesville VA this fall and I want to ride to/along Skyline Drive. It looks like a good connection is via Beagle Gap Trail. Does anyone know if that trail is paved? If not paved, passable with a road bike?

Take a look on Google Earth and go down to street view if it has a street view for it. However on Google Maps, the section I saw looked like tractor tire path in a bean field. Maybe old imagery though.

Yeah, I am hoping someone who rides in the area can give me a first-hand report. I don't see that they have a street view picture but thanks for the suggestion.
