Big coronavirus problem!

Folks are starting to use CV to mean coronavirus. Don't they know that abbreviation is already taken!?

CoV is the "official" abbreviation for coronavirus, or SARS-CoV-2 for the current one.

You are absolutely right not to put up with this sort of crap!

They should receive the same chilly response as people who write "Alu" for aluminum (aluminium).

I think we should address the truth in advertising with the acronym COVID19. There is nothing C & V about a something that appeared in 2019.

Glad my children were educated in the Mechanicsburg School District, rather than the neighboring, Cumberland Valley District (whose HS colors are red & white).

The term COVID-19 is misleading. It implies there have been 18 others but there is no COVID-18 so what's going on with that? No, COVID-19 means it started in 2019 although no one knows for certain exactly when it started. And what's with COVID, anyway? It stands for coronavirus disease, but then why all the caps. Shouldn't it be CoviD or CoViD.

Obviously we didn't act quickly enough, although we had a solution. We should have imposed a 20% tariff on COVID-19.

The only time I say "c&v" is on this forum. Elsewhere, it's just "vintage."

When discussing the virus, I go with "bat wing plague."

Yeah, bit of a shaggy dog story (shaggy wolf story?) in the etymology of the nomenclature there.

It only started rubbing me the wrong way after W got reëlected in 2004, though...

I worked with a Ukranian that was in charge of our metrology lab. He always called it wolfram, then corrected himself with the english name. He had a deep, raspy voice, made me think that he was Odessa mafia. I never corrected him.

You gotta love those accents. I work with a Bulgarian electron microscopy scientist at Harvard, and she tells people in her thick accent that "if you break anything, I will ban you" except it sounds like "I will burn you". I like the mix of intimidation and confusion it creates among the new students.

Only in NE/MA. No confusion between the two here in the midwest.

The Navy cannot do without the Coast Guard. CG is always there to pick up the slack.

Might want to look at his 2005 speech to the NIH about pandemic preparedness. Seems Bloomberg took it seriously in 2006, too.

Gotta love a slogan like "you have to go out; you don't have to come back...."

BTW, Lynn, I'll be displaying some bikes for the foreseeable future at Billy Goat Bicycles...
They've got about 20-25 C&V bikes in there now. I'm taking some more in when things open up.
The guys there have quite a collection of C&V. 2 Colnago Masters on the wall, 2 Colnago Dreams on the floor...

At Lockheed it stands for the Navy C model or carrier variant. The Navy's is the B model or STOVAL for Short takeoff vertical landing and the Air Force A model is the CTOL for Conventional take off landing. I know probably more than you wanted to know about the F-35
