Retro-Flashback 1966 Raleigh DL-1
This was the bike I rode on my first Gentleman Cyclists' Lake Pepin 3-Speed Tour. It weighed a ton and was a real challenge on the longer hills, but I loved it anyway. And I did get some pretty good photos of it...
Black bikes and graveyards are a natural match, somehow.
As-bought back in 2015 - she needed a LOT of work!
The slack angles really stand out against this straight-up vertical background.
I traded her back in 2020, for which bike I don't recall. But I had acquired my Pashley by then, and that was the roadster style bike I had always wanted. Still, it's nice to look back sometimes...

My 1992-ish Fishlips Toxic Tuna, of Columbus steel:
This was one of my grail bikes as they were built in my hometown of Salt Lake City. It's a little small but I can make it work. I'm afraid to ride it though, it's too light. 23 pounds as it sits right there. Don't know how long it will hold up under my 200 pounds! Forgive the flat tire, its been hanging in the garage for a few years now....

Schwinn Heavy Duti
I always forget is it Heavi or Heavy and is it Duti or Duti. One is spelled correctly the other is not. It would be easier without Schwinn's misspelling cleverness. At least I know how to spell Twinn in Schwinn.
This was put together in the early 80's when colored anodized BMX parts were all the rage. It has a King Sting fork that I order from Schwinn since I worked at the dealership at the time. Same with the rack.

Happy December, everyone. It's Black Bike Month.
Here is a picture from 2011 of my 1962 Rudge Sports. I recently learned that my Rudge has been thrown out, i.e. stolen from me. I stored it in my mother-in-law's apartment building so I would have a bike to ride when I visit her. The building management thought I had abandoned it. A few years ago, they asked all bike owners to label the bikes to prevent this when they cleaned out the bike room. This time, they didn't ask, they just acted. Of course, this is improper, and I'll be making a claim of stolen property.
