Need advice on a used Specialized Sirrus Elite

Hello

I'm considering buying a used 2012 Specialized Sirrus Elite. The bike is in mint condition and priced $ 400.00 CAD.
I know very little about bikes and this is the first time I spend this kind of money on a bike and I want to make sure the price is reasonable.
Any feedback would be much appreciated

Looking on Specialized website, a new Sirrus Elite goes for $830, so I would say $400 is a good price - however, I would check to see what kind of condition it's in first. Test ride it and make sure it fits you, etc. I have a the bottom of the line Sirrus and like it very much - great bike for getting around town on. In fact, I want to get knobbier tires and use it to ride on trails and gravel.

Thank you so much.
What exactly should I be looking for when inspecting the bike ?

If the bike is in as good condition as you say........and you can satisfy yourself that it has not been stolen...........PULL THE TRIGGER.....BUY......BUY........BUY.

That price is almost too good to be true.

Read up on bicycle fit, and google bicycle fit calculators. Also google "How to buy a used bike."

Take it for a test ride. Test the brakes and shift through all of the gears. Make sure that the frame is the correct size for you - you shouldn't be too stretched out with your hands on the handlebars or too cramped, taking into consideration that you can adjust the saddle forward and back.
