My wife has very occasional benign positional vertigo (BPV). The Epley Maneuver fixes her right up. That said, she went to the doctor immediately when she first experienced it and got the correct diagnosis. Always get an immediate diagnosis for vertigo, it can be a symptom of something that can cause a major change in your life, and not in a good way..

Like Carbonfiberboy 's partner, my wife has similar experiences. She has bouts of vertigo and the Epley maneuver cures it. I help her get the positions right. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it right or it needs to be repeated to get the full effect. Also, doing the maneuver makes her want to puke. But it fixes the problem. Then she's fine until some months later those dang ear crystals get out of position and she needs it again....

PTs in rehab did this for me after my crash in 2017. It was nausea inducing in the moment, but it apparently put the rocks back where they belonged. I haven't had any issues since.

I also have to rearrange the rocks in my head occasionally using the Epley Maneuver.

Interesting. I need to try this. I've been experiencing intermittent vertigo so bad for the past couple of years I've had to discontinue most outdoor cycling. I still use the indoor trainer, but since around 2021 I've mostly switched to jogging.

I still get dizzy spells but if I fall I won't have far to go, and can aim for soft grass if I'm lucky. So far I've fallen only once while running, and that was mostly due to overestimating my 65 year old body's ability to jump like a 20something. I tried to hop across a gap, which I cleared easily, but my legs collapsed on landing. No injuries, other than embarrassment as it occurred next to a busy thoroughfare at rush hour. I just bounced up and resumed jogging with that "I mean to do that!" aplomb mastered by house cats when they fail to actually land on their feet.

I've consulted my primary care doc and ENTs a few times but they blow me off as if it's nothing to worry about. After ignoring my complaints, I ended up in the ER and urgent care a couple of times needing prednisone and antibiotics for upper respiratory and inner ear inflammation and infection. I need to find better doctors.

I experienced severe vertigo and made multiple visits to various doctors to no avail. I went to a physical therapist who specialized in active pressure release and after one hour my vertigo was reduced by 90%. One more visit a week later and the vertigo was gone completely. There was a pinched nerve in my neck that was causing the vertigo.
