3227 calories? Admittedly, I am not familiar with how Strava calculates calories.

He's an old friend, so I went out and joined him for a few hours where the route passed through my area. It's the only time I've been able to keep up with him.

I think I watched him eat that much at just one convenience store.

Poorly. I think it's probably okay if you have a power meter, but if you only have an HRM, it bases it on HR. For example, I did a ride last night, the fastest I've gone on that particular route, but for some reason my HR was 10 bpm lower than I'd expect for the speed I was going. 687 Cal. Other rides, 1mph slower average speed but higher HR - 830 Cal.

Ashton Lambie doesn't have any power or HR data, so I have no idea how Strava calculates Calories from that!

Old friend? I woulda guessed there is like 39+ years between you two. Well cool, however that came about. Profiles on him have always been interesting.

I thought you are in PA?...this ride was KS and OK.
I can't even imagine the mental side of doing a ride like this.

Hey, I resent that! It's a bit less than 39 yrs. I've known him for a good chunk of his life, even if that is a smaller chunk of my life.

even if the headunit is using the minimum data input for calculating calories, 3227 is way off for the duration of it all.

A 14.6x average speed is fairly good imo.

Some people really go to extreme lengths to make sure nobody tries to steal their Strava KOM.
