Same. It works... a bit. But enough to, indeed, save your ass. No more skunk stripe / mud butt

Picked this one up today for cheap:

1994 Norco Nitro sporting Ritchey Tom Slick tires. My size with an LX/XT mix, some aftermarket wheels, and a Marzocchi XC51 fork that won’t hold air. Probably just source an appropriate rigid fork from the collective.

Don’t know what I’ll do with it - sell it or keep it? Nice frame, Canadian, reminds me a lot of my beloved but long gone ‘95 Kona Kilauea. Wish I hadn’t sold that one 15 years ago…

This is in like new condish so it may hang around a while. N+1 strikes again!

Takara Professional info

I snapped up a Takara Professional frame for a winter project. It's a 63 +/- cm size frame and in good shape. Has sundry parts on it. Can't seem to get many photos of it for reference. If someone has some photos of one in their hands, send me some, thanks.

The best I have is a photo in an early 80’s Takara brochure that has the specs for the 990. You can find it in my photo album.

1986 Miyata 310, $25. I mostly bought it for the frame, but a surprising amount of the bike is original. The stem, bars, seat post, and saddle are crappy aftermarket stuff, not worth keeping. The fork isn't original, but seems serviceable. The wheels are in surprisingly good shape, though the sealed bearings are kind of crunchy...never tried to maintain sealed bearings, so that's going to be a learning experience. Another complication is the Uniglide freehub. I'd like to get a hold of an original Miyata fork, but I don't know where I'd even find something like that these days.

The thing has obviously sat outside for a very long time. The "silver" handlebars were originally black, as could be seen when I unclamped the brake lever and the stem..the black anodization had weathered off. The tires are also completely rotten, but that's not a concern.

From what I can see of the inside of the frame, there's superficial surface rust, but nothing structurally concerning. It'll get an oxalic bath and then Framesaver.

Wonder about Zebra bikes..

Can someone please tell me info on Zebra brand bikes? The ones I have seen look ordinary but they command steep prices. What makes them so special.? Info, thanks.

This Trek 420 was getting scrapped due to rust on the toptube cable guides and flat tires. Quick cleanup and new cables, tires and cables and it turned out to be a nice rider.

^^^ On that note, anyone know what this is?

Drug this out of mothballs the other day, had to reassemble some of it to do so, in the shed packed with 2 other motorcycles and a mountain of junk including several bikes of course.

Not C or V but this Schwinn Wayfarer was left at a rural transfer station and the attendant gave it to my buddy, who gave it to me. Modern little $300 bike with steel frame, 700C alloy wheels (front QR), rear rack and V-brakes. Wish I knew someone who needed a bike. This one gets a rear tube, shift cable, lube 'n' tune or a donation to the co-op.

This is how that old Gitane mixte came home. The cheap steel kickstand is the only regrettable part on it.

Hope I can find someone who wants this.

Kawasaki KZ something or other. Looks like it’s missing the turbo unit. Nice find!

I have the carb and turbo here in the pile somewhere, I've had this for a long time, finally gave into a good friend who wants to get it done up before we're too old to do it or ride it.

Yep, 78 Z1R Turbo "factory" build sold through Kawasaki dealers by an ex exec, no warranty and no saving grace, these were brutal.

This was Kawi's answer to the XS11, CBX, and GS1000 that had all surpassed the KZ1000 after a long run of Kawi dominance.

In spite of having bikes coming out of my ears, I couldn't resist this '92 Trek 990 in my size for about the cost of a tank of gas. Since it's my size, it'll go into pool of "bikes to ride in spring and decide what to keep"

All the factory Kwaker turbos I've seen were in the black and orange paint scheme, so not sure if this isn't a standard unit that's been retro-fitted. A very cool bike I'd love to park next to my GPZ900 though.

This one is one of the early ones, an actual 78, the black, orange and yellow ones are 79's built on 78's from the original batch.

This one was upgraded with the spyder header kit that they used on the 79's.

It is all original other than that.

I have the original "log" style header too.
