Since we are flexing our e-muscles...

Nearly 30 mile climb over two passes (and then another 30+ down to camp) riding a 90 lb. bike thousands of miles from home with no support and no spare wheel.

A spare frame or two can come in handy occasionally, in case the one he is riding explodes.

It will be. I've had Marathons on my bike since last March and have put over 8000km on them. In all that riding I've had all of one flat, and they're still in great shape despite the mileage.

I've carried a bunch of spare wheels while riding. Usually to the LBS. I think I've only once carried two ... after a craigslist purchase. I always just strapped them to my back, messenger bag style. Remove the skewers and wrap the end of the axle so it doesn't dig into my back.

Same here to and from a LBS. I also carried 3 framed 16x20 photos from my cross country tour to and from Biketoberfest in a messenger bag. Probably about 8 miles round trip.

Shoot, I've carried a second bike over my shoulder, but not for long distances. It works fine, but crashing would hurt.

I found a very friendly stray cat once while out on a bike ride. Either a large kitten or a young adult. I wanted to take it home.... Probably impossible to carry on the bike and difficult (at best) to carry for the 8 miles or so if I walked home (even the most patient cat has its limits!). Fortunately, the cat wasn't actually a stray (it had a collar) so I didn't have to decide whether to take it home with me or not.
