For several weeks I’ve been monitoring 700x28 gp5000 (NOT tubeless) and have had little luck tracking them down at reasonable prices. Is this the dreaded supply chain problems I hear in the news?

Looks like it, checked bike24, probikekit and a couple others. Issue seems to be with your desired size, they have 23, 25 and 30s available but not 28. Was indications that they'd be available at the end of Nov. Did find them available in the 75.00 range but I'd hold out for the 80-90.00 pair from probikekit.

If you can settle for 25mm they are 42 bucks at probikekit. I guess everyone wants 28mm, so they are hard to find. Not just GP5ks, other brands also.

What's your point? Should I have given the UPC codes? Standard terminology is tubeless or clincher. One uses a tube and the other does not. The one which does not use a tube has been in short supply for many months, especially in 28mm.

There have been shortages of both, some sizes worse than others. Quality chains are in short supply. Sapim xray spokes are extremely hard to find. I am waiting 4 months now for a SRAM blipbox. SRAM Red AXS cassettes are like hens teeth

FWIW friend owns a local LBS, I just got the last of his gp5000’s in TL still had some clincher but no 28’s. He mentioned that his incoming shipment continues to get moved further out and was recently cancelled and replaced with the new variation of GP5000’s. But then also pushed out by almost 3 mths. He spends half his time sitting online trying to grab needed parts to complete builds or lose them to other shops. Crazy times

Argh it’s so frustrating. I’d been waiting for disc brake pads for what feels like weeks, finally managed to snag a set but it took awhile. Even my LBS was out for a good long while.

I have some 28mm Conti 5000s sitting in my basement. Let me know if you’re interested.

To me a tubeless tire is also a clincher tire. They mechanically fit to a rim by the same ways. However I took another look at what being said today, it seems like many vendor sites are now merchandising them as if they are different and separate from the clincher class of tire.

Though a couple of tire manufacturer sites I went to don't specifically say that a clincher must have a tube. They describe clinchers as simply tires that mechanically hold to the rim by their beads and air pressure. But they do go on to later describe tubeless tires as not having a tube, but not in the same paragraph as clinchers.

So I'll not speak of this or admonish you or others again ...unless I'm able to find some further support for my position.

None of the four retailers that I use have them in stock. I don't find those reputable places to buy from.

Why don't you place an order and see how fast they come.

I've bought from all of those places at one time or another. They are reputable. If you refuse to open your options then no wonder you can't find stuff.

This whole thing about "can't find bike parts" is overated. You just have to be willing to look at other places.

I just recently put some new parts on my mountain bike...Dropper post, dropper post lever, 2 new SRAM rotors, new seat, new cables, new SRAM X01 Shifter...ordered all parts from Amazon and had them within a week.

The issue with the 25 mm ones is that they inflate to barely 23 mm wide on my 17 mm internal width wheels. And this is after they have broken in after a few rides. I am fairly sure that they were < 23 mm wide on my first ride on then.

Regardless, none of those are priced very well relative to what we are used to. I think that was part of the point t of the initial post- not that there are 0 options, but there are no reasonably priced options..
So get into an argument over what is and isn't considered reasonable, I guess.

I'll just say that I expect the paid price for gp5k to always be less than the paid price for Rene Herse tires. Gp5k for more than RH is a touch excessive.

I had to order a 12 speed cassette from europe. Of course, some smart ass will come on and show that they are available TODAY w/o consideration that they may not have been available last week.
