Which carbon seat post would you go for?
RITCHEY WCS CARBON
vs
EASTON EC90 FULL CARBON
I'm searching for a 31.6 mm carbon seatpost to by assembled with an aluminium railed saddle. What do you think would fit best?

I have an EC90, I like it a lot, though it is my first carbon seatpost so I don't really have anything to compare it with.
I've been using it for about 3 years, that'd be somewhere around 15,000 miles and it's still going strong.

It's not carbon but it's far superior to both SP you mentioned.

A Thomson will have less setback. And is the Easton a zero setback too? If your saddle is just about centered on the rails now, you might not fit a Thomson.
(and your rails are probably titanium, not aluminum)
I have the Ritchey WCS in aluminum. It's two bolt design is really adjustable, but it slips pretty easily. The seat would tilt all the way back when I hit a big bump. I had to roughen the surface and use carbon assembly paste, and tighten the bolts carefully. I like it now, but it's a pain to get working correctly.

The Ritchey WCS Carbon 2-bolt saddle is a great post - never tried the one bolt version. The clamps never ever slips, and in 27.2 variation its super light so I assume the 31.6 is light for its size.
Why does everyone always say Thomson before even knowing the riders setback requirements? The Thomson materpiece is a gorgeous piece of machining that I recommend when appropriate, but in many cases the setback version of 16mm is not enough, and looks funny with its sharp angle. Its also 25 grams heavier than the WCS if you are counting grams and sometime people are just looking for a carbon post to match looks.
The Ritchey is an elegant post I recommend.
I'm surprised more companies with larger seat tubes still don't spec a 27.2 post. My frame uses a 34.8 post clamp & F.Derailleur, but still uses a 27.2mm post. The smaller diameter post is 30-50 grams lighter than the 31.6 counterparts, plus is more comfortable.

Well my girlfriend and I both have setback on our seatposts. I personally never tried a seatpost without setback but my saddle is at half the rails on my setback post so I guess no setback wouldn't be adequate.
The Scott Contessa CR1 has many Ritchey logos on the fram so I think the Ritchey WCS carbon would be a perfect image fit.
From my side, I ride a BMC SLC 01 from Easton carbon so I got a EC70 with setback. I was hesitation to purchase a EC90 for myself and thros the EC70 on my girlfriend's bike however I don't know if it would good like a WCS Ritchey with the little UCI flag

The Ritchey and the Easton are both excellent products. Performance-wise, there's no diffference. Weights are close enough to not matter. Therefore, this may be one of those rare cases in which you can choose based solely on looks. If the Easton matches your bike better, get the Easton, eh?
Regarding Thomson...excellent seatposts, no doubt. However, in the 31.6 size, and in a stiff frame, they can absolutely beat you to death. I changed mine to a carbon ControlTech, and the improvement in ride quality was quite remarkable. Of course, the roads here are exceptionally crappy. On smoother surfaces, it would likely be much better.

I have both.
The ritchey jammed in my aluminium bmc streetfire. The gloss finish seemed to be the problem. It isn't babied. The streefire is my wet weather/ travel bike. Exhibit a. sand and grime which probably got washed off if it rained that day.
The EC 90 works well.
Once it's adjusted it a forgotten item.

i wish the made the Ritchey post with zero setback If they did i would get one as well as a WCS stem and bars. Since i havent been able to find one i guess i will go with
3T Seat post, bars, and stem. I do like the looks of the WCS stuff better though

Do not get the WCS Carbon SINGLE bolt post. It's a pain to mount your saddle and is a slip monster.
Then again, maybe some people like that.

Thompson is a good post. If you want light though, I recommend KCNC. Mine has been good so far.

Edit: Just checked the FAQ on their website and saw that the Masterpiece does have a 200 lb weight limit. Now I have additional incentive to lose more weight.

What kind of bike exactly?
Do you need a big setback to get your saddle position? If so, FSA K-Force Light (32mm) ... Thomson are for mountain bikes, IMHO - I think they look ugly on road bikes... especially the setbacks.
Are you matching to your stem?

I've had the exact opposite experience. My WCS single bolt post was a breeze to set up and has never slipped paired with my Toupe 143. I have been very happy with it.

I assume that you are referring to the two-bolt Ritchey post since they do make a zero offset one-bolt version.
