Found this 91 Trek 820 to refresh for my nephew it was COVID market inflated but it was also in my neighborhood which is nice as getting out of West Seattle ain't so easy these days. I figure by the time I get some fresh consumables (Tires, chain, cassette, grips cables) on this bike he'll have a nice commuter/errand runner for about $200 which isn't bad in the current market

Picked up this 970 in the morning, overpaid considering the cheap wheels and missing the bottom half of the rear shifter; but it's in my size and a bike I've been looking for. I've already put on a spare set of wheels and plan to make it 9sp once parts become reasonably priced again (may be awhile). Need to look for a stem as well.

Here's mine. I have a set of Soma Clarence Bars on it now but I hope to get back to drop bars once I figure out why the drops started to make my hands hurt.

Mine came with the drops so I did not have a choice to leave it stock. I like what I have seen of the stock set ups.

Score! Made in Santa Cruz. Early model? Where’d you find it?

[QUOTE=JacobLee;21610494]Sorry, I'm not a mountain bike guy. It was a messed up local Craigslist ad that I answered on a whim because it was 10 minutes away

[QUOTE=sdn40;21610564]Well, I’m pretty sure that’s a small batch frame from Santa Cruz, Ca. The Race Lite was a common model, but I think the OR was before that. Cool stuff. I have a buddy who worked there in the 90’s, so he’s got some inside info. Again, what town did you buy it in? Just curious.

[QUOTE=JacobLee;21610701]No doubt the wheels are not original. I've done a bit of research and there isn't a whole lot out there, but what little there is does speak highly of the bikes by Bontrager

[QUOTE=sdn40;21610713]Yeah, there’s a reason Trek bought his identity. Hey, maybe that’s why it was in Wisconsin?

Thanks. It's a British brand that was popular (inside the UK) from mid eighties till end nineties. It still exists but now their bikes look crappy. They had very nice steel builds in the nineties. One of my all time favourits is their 1993 Kili XTR.

I posted pics of this RockHopper in the MTB/upright thread about a month ago, but I’ve switched back to the Scott AT-4 Pro bars it had before.
I’ve had these bars since 1993 when I got them on a Gary Fisher Montare. The aero parts had already been chopped off, but they are still great as a sort of aggressive trekking bar.
So, really the only thing new on this bike is the handlebars, but it does change the ride quite a bit. The forward bend is a great climbing grip and a little further forward than I could achieve with a long stem and touring bar.
Since it has a U-brake it’s late 80s but I’m not certain what year. The Suntour headset and U-brake are the only components that might be (and probably are) original to the bike.

Recently converted this awesome High Sierra frameset into my new favorite singlespeed trail beast! NOS IRC Mythos XCs just fell into my lap the other day! Powder coated the cantis, MTE-100 seatpost, brake lever clamps, and Shimano DX pedals. SR 21.1 BMX stem, Araya 1.75 wheels, Super Maxy cranks. 39/18 gearing.
