Just wanted to note this is my first post on BF and have really enjoyed the site. I just took delivery of a Trek Emonda SL6 (in the matte black) and have ridden it about 30 miles. While it's still early, it's remarkable how much of an improvement it is over my previous bike, a Felt Z5, which was already an extremely smooth ride. It actually absorbs bumps and vibrations better than the Felt but what's great is that it's really responsive and really comes alive when you mash the pedals. It just has the perfectly balanced feel I was hoping it would have. While color is admittedly a personal preference, it's a beautiful bike in person - the matte paint gives it a very understated look (although maybe some additional color would have been nice). I was worried when buying it because I couldn't test ride one (no LBS ever carries a bike in my size because I'm the size of a 10-year old) and was worried it wouldn't be a material improvement over my Felt. But, man, I have zero regrets. I'll post a pic as soon as I finish putting the last few accessories on the bike, which I'm kind of hesitant to post because it will reveal my Fredly tastes :-)

I got my original frame in 93. In 2005, I noticed a clicking in the BB area that I couldn't get rid of. Turns out the BB shell had over the years come unbonded from the frame. The Trek rep took one look at it and asked me what color I'd like my warranty replacement frame to be. They replaced it, no questions asked.
I rode the 2005 bike until this past September, when I was cleaning it and noticed a crack near the seat tube water bottle mount. Brought the bike to the LBS, they sent a few pics to Trek, and my new Emonda frameset was in the mail the next day. Also no questions asked.
The ironic thing is that I also have an OCLV mountain bike, which I've brutalized, yet that frame's never had a single issue.
Trek has two "fits", H1 and H2. The H1 has a shorter head tube that puts the bars lower. The H2 has a longer head tube and thus a more upright position. Most of the pictures you're seeing are the H2 fit. Mine's an H2 and what I like about it is that I can have zero spacers and a -10 degree stem and get the bars around 4" below the saddle and not have the stack of ugly spacers that a shorter head tube would give me.
Here's an Emonda with a racier, H1 fit:

Well I typically don't quote prices when talking about bike fit, especially considering that one has nothing to do with the other.

If you build your own bike, can do for a lot less. $1,500 for the SL H1 Frame and $3000 for full SRAM Red group. Another $1000 for carbon components. $500 for 1450 gram wheels. It's not SLR, but with that, it's probably still sub 14 lbs.

Yeah, I can't imagine why they don't just make both fits in every frame, unless they've decided that not enough people who buy the lower priced frames pick the H1 fit to justify the cost of having a second mold.

I've ridden a SLR but only for a few miles and I can tell you it applies torque to the rear wheel better than my Madone 4.6. Which is why i'm going to upgrade.

I'm thinking of replacing my Madone 6.9 SSL frame in the next year or two and have been leaning towards the Emonda frameset, as the new Madone has the bottom mount brake, which I despise. One thing I've always liked about my frame is that it was made in the USA (not just assembled, but made there too.) Now this probably doesn't really matter that much, but when paying $4200cdn for a frameset, little things like that make it a bit easier to swallow. 
Does anyone know if the Emonda SLR frameset is still *made* (not just assembled) in the USA?
My Madone 6.9 H1 with WH7900-C24-TL wheels, 7970 Di2, Quarq ELSA p/m 53/39, 11-28 DA cassette, SQLab 611 saddle (264g), and DA9000 pedals weighs in at 15.7lbs. I trust the frame and Trek, which is why I'm looking at an Emonda down the road.

Just placed my order for a black and white SL frame built up with Ultegra 11 and race lite wheels. Should have photos in early February. The Matte/Gloss black SL6 models currently have ship dates in late March.

Mine is ordered and the dealer offered me a super deal on a set of Zipp 303s, so i'm getting them along with alloys wheels with the bike for less than the Bontrager carbon wheels.
So it's a SLR with Sram Red 22 and Zipp 303s... should be killer to ride.

I think you were the one who gave me to idea after reading how you got yours. I never liked the black on black or red/black options for the SL6. I test rode an SL8 and loved it. Now I just need to figure out what to do with myself for the next 2 months...

Should have pics of mine soon. Dropped off the seat and pedals yesterday. C35's with Conti 4000s2 in 25 are mounted and DA Di2 just waiting for a few frame plugs and should be good to go. I read someplace one of you guys had issues with the 25's and the DA front brakes - person had to cut pads down to get 25's to work?? I told my mechanic about that after I read it. No issues on my SLR - perhaps 2015 DA has changed at bit. Should have it in time for Christmas.will post pics soon.

I ordered mine with Bontrager Race wheels (cheapest available) knowing that I was going to use the Zipps. Honestly I sort of wanted a second set anyway.
