3Rensho Project Photos
I bought this 3Rensho Super Record Export frame and fork from irvri several weeks ago and to me it was a restoration project waiting to happen. It turned out to be fraught with the usual problems and perils, but it's done and I thought I'd share the results. One thing I did not have was time to invest in any partial resto work on the frame--there was a lot of missing paint, rust, assorted dings and scrapes--and the fork was in very bad shape:
The frame need lots of love:

Wow! That's like night and day. Explain how you made the transformation to the finish. It looks great!

So you didn't have time to invest in a partial resto... i.e. you had it fully restored by someone else? It looks beautiful.

Amazing! I remember seeing that frame at Irv's place. My size too. You did a splendid job.

The fork is original, done by a plater in Omaha I've used before and I was very pleased with the final result; it's not new perfect, but quite nice. They made an uncharacteristic error with this and another I brought in at the same time by plating the entire fork, in spite of specific instructions on the work order. This one had the threads media blasted and a combination of emery cloth to knock of the chrome and a Campy mill to get the crown back to 26.4.
As has been pointed out by the sharp-eyed, I paid for a full restoration repaint and actually got it done twice. The first iteration was in the light metallic blue that was more common on track frames but there was a chemical problem with the paint that manifested as subtle islets of slightly darker, unmixed paint around the bottom bracket shell and a couple other isolated spots so that one got sent back and redone in the original color.
As for build, it's sadly too small for me at 54.5. If it was a keeper I'd be leaning strongly toward one of the original combo builds with a 7200EX drive train and Campy NR shifters or full Suntour Superbe. I'll let the new owner decide how to build her up.

Beautiful frame and fork, I hope the new owner appreciates what they have and your efforts.
